• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Is there an announcement email list? I'm on the EFJ list and get the Sharefile update notices, but I have to check the Kenwood pages and my brain has to parse the page correctly, which is not guaranteed. :| Even then, you get things like where in a recent update, they left the header date on an item the same and just added "Updated xx-xx-xx" in italics in the middle of the details.

If there's not an update notification list, has anyone used a good tool that you can give a list of pages and have it tell you when one changes (in a meaningful way)? I have some stuff I wrote a long time ago for specific purposes, but it might be tough to resurrect.

NXR-1x00 repeaters.
FW 2.30 is the latest I've seen.

Was told 2.21 addressed a network connectivity issue where the NXR does not recover after network connection error. This was related to an issue I had with a few NXR-1800's with early firmware that have the Multi-site conventional IP network option.

With the NX-5300, can anyone confirm that ARC4 and AES256 are working fine now on Phase 2 Systems?
I know of folks using ARC4 on P25 conventional without any issues, I can't speak to ARC4 or AES256 on P25 P2 systems, but I would think as long as you had the correct Key ID and correct key data it should work, AES would also require the Hardware encryption module.

As far as I know there isn't a list, I just see it under the "what's new" on mytools when I login

That helps! I never see that page because I leave several tabs open and stay logged in. Thanks. :)

BTW, this anchored link scrolls down past the giant banner, at least for now.

Here and there
Would be nice if they would adjust the look back timers in a firmware update on the nx line to go lower or similar to that of the tk2180 in priority mode.
