I noticed this evening that when you map the NJICS sites by clicking the "RR Locations" link, that the Bordentown/Burlington Co Simulcast is not in Burlington at all. It shows up near Great Adventure to the NE. Also, the "mobile site" maps over near Tullytown, PA. I think those assigned lat/longs should be changed.

That's because the Bordentown Simulcast cell covers more than just Burlington County. There are subsites in Ocean and Monmouth counties as well. The geolocation of that cell is meant to be the approximate center of the area the simulcast covers.

The mobile site geolocation is intended to encapsulate the entire state, as it could be deployed anywhere.

Newfoundland is part of the Western edge of West Milford Township, near the Jefferson Township (Morris County) border. It meets near the Reservoir,in Oak Ridge,Jefferson Township.

They don't affiliate cause the sites aren't live. The two new sites are Echo Lake Stables IR in West Miford, and Hamburg Mountain BCast. They, once live, will be joined with High Point and Walpack to create a Sussex County Simulcast.

Or we could leave it up to the Admin whom I quoted being it's relevant to the thread.
I haven't been anywhere good today to get NJICS recordings, but I'm currently running recordings on all Somerset County sites. The few minutes I listened live were awesome!

I'll post the videos later in the other thread - they really don't belong here.

Wow, I didn't realize the Bordentown cell was that expansive. I figured the mobile location might have been that way to get the radius to work out...just looks weird when it is mapped.

This map of the system will give you an idea of how the simulcast cell subsites are laid out.

Earlier today I took a look at all of the center coordinates and ranges for the simulcast cells, and submitted more appropriate values for them. I'm sure Scott will get to the submission when he has time.

You've got some of your sites and simulcasts mixed up.

Echo Lake Stables are in Newfoundland, not West Milford. The Bearfort site is the one in West Milford. Both of those sites will eventually form a simulcast cell for Passaic County, along with Garrett Mountain (WQYK295).

The Sussex County simulcast cell will consist of High Point, Walpack (Hill 1606), and Hamburg Mountain (WQYK287). None of the new frequencies are on the air yet, nor is there any activity from Hamburg. The state recently filed a slow growth request, pushing the build-out deadline to late 2020 for all four county-allocation based simulcast cells.

Well that was a brainfart and a half. Guess I'm more tired than I thought. Thanks for the corrections on the future merging.

Just note, the stables are legally in West Milford Township. Newfoundland is a post office, not an incorporated community, with the east side of the stable property backing to the Macopin River, which is why that property is taxed, administered, and mapped by West Milford Township. Same with Macopin. It's splitting hairs, but, it is West Milford Township. And the hardware is at the site.

There should be updated info in CAPRAD regards 2 sites this week I'm told.

Just a quick bit of interesting info I noticed. Seems that ever since JFK took over dispatching Plainfield EMS the talk-group 4545 seem to be operating in a phase 1 mode and can be picked up off the union county and the west orange simulcasts on a Phase 1 scanner. Lots of chatter with Mercy 9 as well as the BLS units covering Edison Twp.

Hi,I’m kinda new here and try to find the answer to my question. I bought the patrol2 because my town’s police (Scotch Plains ) switch to this new system and I bought the scanner programmed and I don’t pick them up at all,and wonder if anyone can get them and how would I hear them. / thanks in advance. George

Anybody else happen to have Unitrunker running on Union County today? If so can you confirm around 12:30 TG4721 RID2005089, and shortly after TG8080 same RID?

I'm assuming you mean the HomePatrol II? No experience with it, but I'm very near you and have a 436HP that often struggles to follow Scotch Plains PD (and it's supposed to be better than the HPII on P25). Your problem is most likely simulcast distortion. The solution for me was to try every practical location in the house for the antenna (I got 10 feet of coax to make it easier to experiment). First, identify places where you get a stable lock on the control channel (on the 436, "DAT" will be displayed without blinking). Then, park the scanner on SPPD and record a few hours. Play it back and judge the audio quality - see if you can follow conversations. Once you've identified the best location, you may need to continue playing with position on a finer scale: inches (just 1 can make a huge difference). With a little luck, you'll find the sweet spot.

If all else fails, you may have to consider trying a cheap yagi (no guarantees, but many people report good results) or a better scanner. Unfortunately, the only upgrades I would recommend are expensive - either a Unication pager or the new SDS100 (which I have and it's excellent on NJICS).

A simple first step is to make sure you are using the latest version of Sentinel for the HP2 & that you've got the latest database download for the week (every Monday morning).

I'm one to highly suggest using Sentinel to create your own favorites lists for the area you want to listen to, instead of using the entire DB cut-down by putting in your ZIP code.

^ Indeed, forgot about programming issues. I made use of the NJ favorite list you graciously link to in your sig. Easy to edit down from there.

I stopped updating my lists when I sold my 436 in early March. Now, I'm 'burning' through updates almost every 48 hours to bring the tri-state area back in to some semblance of correctness! :D

JFK is coming across Bordentown in Phase II.

Anyone else hearing this?

PC Sheriff is currently in Phase 1 mode.

It is their TG(4401) according to the ICS DB here.

They are on the Ramapo Site.

I’m sitting on their dispatch and hearing them with my 396xt.

Unit ID: for dispatch is 1600436

Thought they were only Phase 2, as I’ve never heard them on Phase 1.

Any reasons/insights?

Nick

Site 21 is back again on my Unitrunker.

Couple of other things over the last few days.

4501 showed up with a NJTPD radio affiliating to it.

4519 showed up with 66xxx radio affiliating to it.

4591 has 1 radio affiliating to it several times a day (16081). This has been going on for months.

Which means it's no longer on passive. I know for a fact that NJTransit Police had a detail assigned to doing Strike Checks (aka: random train checks) between Bound Brook and Annandale today, so it could be a legit radio and not a REMU check.

But the talkgroups are all new...

Did you get any peers off it?

It is a peer of the Martinsville site; showed up on my Unitrunker in the past week. I can give you (with high confidence) that the location of this site is on the Old Stagecoach Rd tower just east of Pluckemin: 40.6468, -74.6223.

Ideally, I would like to see this site (if it is at the aforementioned location) simulcast with the Martinsville and New Brunswick (i.e. Rutgers U.) sites, but I doubt it will be (at least anytime soon, if ever).

^^^ - Just bumping up KC2ZHY's info on Site 21.

Yes, that happens every now and then. I've heard them on phase 1 before too!

The most likely reason for this is that a single talkgroup will revert to phase 1 when a non-phase II affiliates with that particular talkgroup. Once the radio leaves the talkgroup, that talkgroup will transition back to to phase II.
