I beg to differ there is no sites being used in otero. One tower was constructed and they decided to not use it as 700 has some issues in testing in areas.

Dona ana has a couple but last I'm aware are either not in use yet or some of the north guys going down 25 will affiliate on them.

From what I know some you mention are not interested in leaving conventional vhf.

Now Eddy yes they are currently in a major overhaul right now and itll.be mix and match there. The Eddy stuff will be vhf phase 1/2. Chaves is in plans to go vhf phase 2 trunked countywide from their conventional p25.

AM Low Band NXDN Simulcast!!!

I am pretty sure Chaves is done. They built a VHF P25 Conventional Simulcast with 5 site Multicast.

Eddy also is joing the state along with Otero and Dona Ana counties confirmed to be 700 P25 Phase 2 state system.

And I can confirm 4 Otero county sites online today.

NMSU and Dona Ana County are already using the state system currently.

Dist 8 soon to move along with dist 12.

Expect much of the traffic to be encrypted thanks to the boarder crisis.

Get ready lots of new stuff to scan coming to all of the southern part of the state by June 23.

Definitely contractor propaganda going on in NM that is for sure. I get selling and marketing to get many on contracts to stay afloat but many agencies are being toyed with including certain contractor locking entities into odd aggrements or locking hardware and pushing encryption with differrnt keys between some for psap deals. With that dropping out these forums. I know what is fact and what isn't. Not sure why some spread some false information or hopes. I don't make money off it but I can spot who is as they tried to push us recently to rush into it when there is no sites here besides the legacy vhf and existing states sites with no CC activity. Matter fact looking at one this morning in our owned radio room the hardware for xyz sits off of that a **** two way install job wires all over and gtr8000s needing programming with very long time lead. Last said they got issues to look at as there is major gaps in places. It'll be interesting come 2024 for the tax payer that is for sure. The fact is many had spent way too much on vhf hardware up to recent and their commissions won't allow anything more at least another 6 years minimum. I know some did some deals with s contractor essentially handing over their sites for free upgrade to get on 700 but they'll be at mercy down road with that issue in costs.

OK, I guess I'll bite. Care to share any more on the "odd agreements" or "pushing encryption with different keys between PSAPS?" Seriously, I am interested in learning about what you say is going on.

NMSP District 10 (Farmington) repeats mobiles on the base frequency (I guess that would be called a mobile repeater but there could be a better definition of it.) Anyhoo,,,,I also can hear District 6 (Gallup) from my listening post in SW Colorado. I do not hear mobiles repeated on the District 6 base freq. For anyone in the know, is it indeed the case that mobiles are NOT repeated on the District 6 base freq?

In general the VHF NMSP districts do not repeat (including DIST6). The only exception is really DIST3, which does have some limited repeat capability.

And the other exception is District 10 (Farmington) base repeats mobiles at all times. Not sure why that would be the case is D10 and not others but as they say,,,whatever. :)

This makes sense because in Farmington although there is a frequency allocated to NMSP D-10, the D-10 officers use the San Juan county channel and not the state system currently. I believe the County system is repeated. (unless you are actually listening to the D10 on 155.58 MHz, in which case I have no idea and it's something the local techs did)

NMSP District 10 units no longer are dispatched out of the San Juan County Comm Center on the SO freqs., they are dispatched by NorthComm (NMSP Albuquerque dispatch) on 155.580 (repeater). When NMSP units are working a call with the SJSO they will operate on their freqs (ID as 5-4##).

I see the NMSU Police and Fire Channels have been added to the data base in Las Cruces but no sites?

A Mountain, West Las Cruces, Something around Hatch, and all the Otero County Sites have not been listed. Does anyone live down that way to confirm all the new action happening down south?

West LC is most likely Aden Hills, or maybe Microwave Drive at the airport (KLRU). A major site for Otero Co. would be Long Ridge (Cathey) or Benson Ridge. Hatch could be either Rincon Hill/Mountain, or Magdalena Peak. Almost forgot Buck Mountain, though that's technically in Lincoln County.

I just drove around a bit in northern-ish Otero County with DSD and 2 Airspy R2's and came across site 1.29:

Site: 1.29 NAC=859

Neighbor: BEE00.854-1.9
Neighbor: BEE00.854-1.16
Neighbor: BEE00.854-1.18

Channel 1-1308: 770.18125 CC
Channel 1-1352: 770.45625 SCC
Channel 1-2012: 774.58125 SCC

It came in pretty strong once I got out into the open. Unfortunately my time was limited and I was unable to snag any TGs and I have no idea where the tower could be. I'm betting that this is the Otero County site.

Odd. I thought Giddyup said there were no sites in Otero County. Even after I clearly said I knew of 4 alone in Otero County. Thanks Deadguy for checking this out. Key sites would be Long Ridge, Benson, Weed, and Buck. I know the south part of NM is coming ALIVE with new sites and new users. All of Dona Ana and Las Curces are moving to the state system. I have hear some rumors Alamogordo and Otero are looking at going to state system. Might be why the state is building so many sites so fast in Otero. I think Sierra County is also looking at switching to the state system. Like I said before I know there is a lot of stuff going on with the system down south

I drove north up highway 54 from the Texas/New Mexico border to Alomogordo running DSD and an Airspy R2. Site 1.29 stayed fairly strong for the duration. There were a few dips in signal here in there, but I think it's safe to say that 1.29 serves Otero county. I didn't see any traffic save for one instance of TG 105 affiliating with the system. That makes sense because NMSP are still 100% using their analog channels here in Otero.

Just north of Orogrande, I started picking up site 1.18. The signal was pretty weak and faded out at around Boles Acres. I was only running 1 R2 on the control channel, but I noted some voice on TG 105.
Site: 1.18 NAC=858

Neighbor: BEE00.854-1.1
Neighbor: BEE00.854-1.2
Neighbor: BEE00.854-1.9
Neighbor: BEE00.854-1.16
Neighbor: BEE00.854-1.17
Neighbor: BEE00.854-1.20
Neighbor: BEE00.854-1.29 ; Otero County?

Channel 1-1146: 769.16875 CC
Channel 1-1186: 769.41875 SCC
Channel 1-1226: 769.66875 SCC VOICE

That begs the question of where site #20 is located..

Not sure about the state of deployment, but Eddy county is also planning on joining the system.

I see someone has located some new sites. What do you know some are in Otero. I thought someone from down there said that there were no sites at all in Otero... Looks like a lot of new sites down south.
