App

Since recently discovering about the Admin Message feature - this has gotten me thinking about App's. Has anyone thought about trying to develop an Application to be used on say a phone, for Admin Messages?

As a note - I did find a way to restart VNC via CLI and able to access...

still not sure what is with too many failures since no one is grabbing it....

If you have VNC set up to be accessible to the outside world via port forwarding on the default port, you may be getting hit by script bots trying any IP address they can find with that port open and trying to get access by brute force.

Aaknitt I have to say that had. It crossed my mind. I don't remember if my router at home I did port forwarding. However they recently got a new IP after a power failure and same thing. So it seems odd it would happen that fast. I restarted the server and got right in.

After the power failure it didn't respond for a while and then started responding. Not sure what was up with that.

Has anyone had issues in the U.S sending to Sprint? I'm trying to send text and MMS and they are not receiving them. I send from the regular inbox as a test and the user receives my message.

Any thoughts?

Trouble detecting long tones

Andy - great program and resource thank you.

I'm a new user and have had success but seem to have a strange issue. Using a Bearcat 560XLT both twotonedetect and twotonefinder are detecting tonesets (then subsequently, recording, converting, emailing) but are not seeming to detect longtones at all. There is no text file to show here as nothing even comes up on the scroll in the debug versions when a longtone is played.

Now, when I run a cheap Quansheng handheld as a receiver, all longtones are identified by both Detect and Finder (in addition to the tonesets) and email out without issue? Problem is that the sound quality is much lower with the Quansheng and there is interference its power supply (not present when on battery).

Any idea why the programs may not be detecting the longtones from the Bearcat? Obviously the program runs fine so must be an issue with the scanner? I only run it in manual, tuned to our freq (153.xxx), not on scan. Could it be that there is some kind of interference or audio break in the longtone that causes it not to meet lontone criteria?

I'm running:

Windows 7
Version 67

Instead of it being part of the Tones Editor, how about a separate file like AdminMessage.exe. You could run it and bring up a message send box after it pulls the remote config. You could then put a check by the name of each of the tone sets you want to message, type your message and send. Would something like that be less confusing and better?

Love it!

Is there a code line I can put in the Post_email_command that would delete any audio files created in the audio folder? After the audio files are sent out, I have no need for them.

Have you tried turning your scanner volume up?

I haven't. Definitely a good idea, anyone know of software I could download to record the next pager test transmission?

Cam

I run GoldWave on my computers and record the radio traffic. That way I can play it back and get my exact run times from the recording. I file the departments NFirs reports so I need those. GoldWave has level activated recording so it only records when someone keys up a mic and it attaches a time tag at the beginning of each new section.

This has also helped when there has been issues with pages to see what happened to create the issue. A good example; we were paged and received a blank recording on our phones. I checked the recording and found that the dispatcher had waited and did not start talking until 30 seconds after she set off the page tones. TTD had quit recording by that time.

The program has a trial period and then you must purchase it. I know there are several free programs out there, but this one works the best for me. You can find the program at https://www.goldwave.com/

DC31 - Yes I have tried more volume from the scanner. I have tried it up to much higher output level than what the handheld is working at. I've also tried a lower volume as I read in this thread that some users had a possible distortion issue (or at least that was suggest as a possibility). Neither made a difference. Still detecting tonesets but not longtones.

Westernbound - thanks for the info. I'll try GoldWave at some point and see if it reveals anything. Only issue is that I don't want to interrupt my current set up to try it so will have to wait for a convenient window or get another machine to try it.

Thanks to both of you for the responses.

Are you running an audio feed to Broadcastify from that same computer/audio source?
If so, please identify the feed so that we can dig through the archives.

remote tones.cfg

Currently I have ttd running in dropbox on an xp machine. I received an email last week from dropbox saying they are ending support for xp and dropbox will no longer be an option to run on an xp machine. The next solution I have is to host the tones.cfg file on a web server that I host. I have copied the tones.cfg file to the root of my web server and i am able to view the file when i go to my website. I have edited the remote.cfg file to point to the exact location of tones.cfg on my web server. The issue I am having is tones editor program is not finding the remote hosted tones.cfg. I think it is a port or routing issue to my server. Is there a specific port that needs to be open on my server so that tones editor can find the remote hosted tones.cfg?

update:.....i have figured it out....user error......all is working now

What is the frequency of the long tone you're having trouble with?
