So I see that the town finally got a deal to put up a transmitter site on the Callahan Town off the Berlin Turnpike (In back of Bowl O Rama)

And I am getting a much better signal from it then from the New Britain or Troop H sites...

However in SDRTrunk it shows a signal around 10.9 DB most of the time... yet every once in awhile the signal just drops off and then a few seconds later comes back.

Is anyone else seeing this?

I want to plug it into my SDS200 which is feeding Broadcastify however I need to make sure it's stable before I cut over to the Newington site. So I want to make sure the signal is stable, and that it has all the Newington Services on it. In SDSTrunk there were times I was hearing Police Dispatch on the SDS200 however was not getting it on SDRTrunk. Since its feeding to the public it needs to work and not miss transmissions.

Well letting the SDR Trunk system g all night, it appears the Newington site only has Police traffic on it. I got no logs of Fire or EMS on it. (There may not have been any fire calls though) but I was standing next to it when there was a few EMS calls on the SDS200 (tuned to the New Britain site) and there was no EMS picked up on the Newington site.

Is the Callahan site simulcasting the New Britain frequencies ?

I agree I am receiving the fire on low band much clearer now at my house to. What a great town to enhance the radio with a low band option for us dinosaurs.

They do not seem to be. I am seeing no other traffic but the PD. (But I have not been around today so it is possible they may have fire too but there were no fire calls before I left)

Some time last year, IIRC over the summer, the PD did a presentation to the Selectman. At the time they were planning to come up with an agreement to join the Windsor P25 system and add one or two voice channels. and add a site in town for better coverage. They had found that CLMRN didn't have the coverage needed but Windsor would work almost as is. Not sure where that stands now.

why would they do that? They have New Britain they have West hartford they have Wethersfield
New Britain doesn't have their own system.
Regardless, it is probably a lot less expensive to add infrastructure to an existing and relatively new system than to create a new system from the ground up. Also affords for greater interoperability between mutual aid partners.

Its in the database now. And still only PD traffic. I will be doing more tests this weekend.

770.44375c

Based on this site being an ASR not a simulcast site, I'd assume it is only being used to fill in an area of poor coverage. I would guess based on it only having two possible talk paths, that FD traffic, IF it is even allowed on this site at all, would only be carried if there were a radio affiliated to that site on a fire talkgroup. That may not even be allowed, but this is purely speculative.

Windsor has 3 sites, two of which are very close to EW. One near BDL and one near Day Hill Rd & I 91. I can pick up the Windsor system in EW with a stock rubber duck antenna most of the time. IIRC, EW as two sites, one on the Water Tower near CT 140/Rt 5 and one somewhere in Broad Brook. Probably much cheaper to add new antennas, repeaters, etc. to an existing site vs build out you own new system for two smaller towns plus you get better interop.

47 MHz, there's no band like low band! They are simulcasting on it!
Would you have the exact frequency? The RR Database is still showing 154.445 and not sure if they are still using that.

Since I am the feed provider for Newington I have a few people very upset at ME that their old analog scanners are not working anymore. I know a few of these folks mainly listen to the FD, so if I can have that frequency to share with them it would be greatly apprecated.

Thanks

He was joking base on someone making reference to Newington working on their "low band" which they do not have.
They can use 154.4450, the same VHF HI channel they have used for decades.
