Ok .. here is the deal and I will try to explain it. I know nothing to scan has been a thing forever. But first .. I have tried everything to get this problem resolved and no answer.

So I have a BCT15x and I have a system with several groups in it. I have only one turned on.

But if I go to that system and press the FUNC button and press 1, it says nothing to scan after. That I totally get as I have turned off my one group.

However .. I cannot press the FUNC button again and press 1 again to turn it back on.

Nothing I do other than reprogramming the scanner is able to turn it back on .. and that makes no sense to me.

Thanks

If you ARE pressing FUNC then 1, you are turning that GROUP off.
The fix is shown below. You'll NEVER have that problem again! ;)
(Unless you do not have ANY System selected)

Rich

Every single one of my systems (I have hundreds of them) has a GROUP that has NO Group Quick Key.
With just one frequency that is very unlikely ever to be active.
That group can't be turned off and you will not see "Nothing to Scan" again.

That way, if you accidentally turn off all groups in a system, it will make it easy for you to hit FUNC while
on that system to enable at least one REAL group.

As below in USD format.
1245 MHz with a PL and ATT on - although the PL part isn't really necessary:

CGroup,"Junk .",.,UNLOCKED
Channel,"Spaceholder .",12450000,,NFM,C1035,OFF,UNLOCKED,ON,OFF,OFF,AUTO,OFF,ANALOG

OR

You could also:
While in Scan mode, press and hold FUNC to lock function mode.
Then scroll to the system then press the number of the group quick key(s) you want to enable

Junk Group in FreeSCAN format:
.

Btw .. found this in the WIKI. But searching the forum for "BCT15x and Nothing" I found no threads re nothing to scan.

I know ... as this is likely the most common complaint about Uniden scanners that I have ever seen.

Disabled all GQKs - how to re-enable?

  • While in SCAN mode, hold in the FUNC knob, scroll to the system (by turning the FUNC knob), and while holding the FUNC knob, hit the number of the GQK you want to enable.
The thing that is stupid .. is that I have only 1 system enabled, and no groups. To have to go through the process above to fix it is a bit weird. But at least I know how to do it now.

Btw .. love this one tip below., and going to do that right now. Thanks.

"Every single one of my systems (I have hundreds of them) has a GROUP that has NO Group Quick Key.
That group can't be turned off"

When it says "Nothing to Scan" it is literally scanning nothing. So, there are no GQKs available. Even if there is only one system in the scanner, since it isn't scanning anything it also isn't scanning that system, so you need to select it (F+scroll to it) before trying to activate the GQK.

Thanks Paul .. no issues now. I know how to fix it, but with the tip above it will not be an issue again.

I am newish to Uniden scanners, so a pretty big learning curve.
