Go to analyze select lcn finder then select the system you need the lcn order of.

It ask you to save the information. After you save it you can go in to edit sites/frequencies see the frequency hit enter and it shows the LNC # hit enter again to save or get out.

Current version of Sentinel does not support NXDN. Per UpMans post be careful not to overwrite a manually entered in system.

So when I got the DMR upgrade I was Happy about the Fact that if I searched the bands in the "Search for" option it would mute the control data channel and give me site and system info and even let me hear the talk groups, however on this NXDN upgrade I search the bands and it doesn't do that , it has to be programmed as at least a conventional channel before it will start decoding. Including if I turn on digital only in the search options. Is there a way to maybe add this feature, like what DMR does? U can identify SysID and Site ID info much faster if your searching and it stops and decodes it, especially if the system isn't in the RRDB yet, and especially in big cities where a lot of systems are going digital...

Yes, that is the current operation. Woodpecker keeps pecking that we should not do that, but instead skip it entirely.

My solution is to use ProScan to log, and automatically lockout a channel if it hangs the scanner for more than 1 minute. Best of both worlds.

Is anyone else having issues scanning 9600 systems? Trying to scan the Mobile Business Communication system in Toronto and it seems to be having some trouble. Missing a lot of comms, if not most, compared to DSD+. Seems to have issues in conventional mode as well. LCN finder is also having some issues, even though there are a lot of comms occurring.

There are no issues with 4800. Picking up QueOn network with no issues.

UPDATE: had to put the site into manual FM and set digital threshold mode into manual as well, with a setting of 7/8. Now tracking fine.

Sentinel NXDN programing

You CAN use sentinel to edit TG's and Unit ID's in a NXDN TRUNK SYSTEM.

The trick is to create the system and sites manually in the radio. Also add sites, add frequencies with LCN's if known and assign RAN/AREA if known. Create a DEPT and add 1 TG dummy if unknown.

Verify that you have it all correct and working.
Then read from the radio. The system will say P25 in Sentinel never mind that. You can then add TG's and RID's. Just leave the detailed site stuff alone in Sentinel (you can edit names & QK's & Num Tags)

Then after updating TG's/Site Names/Departments if desired. you can rewrite the updated FL to the radio and it should still work as NXDN.

Not for the faint of heart but you can directly edit the hpd file using notepad as well.

AFAIK, the problem with the Sentinel workarounds for NXDN entry and editing will still require full creation of the system in Sentinel again after NXDN support is added to the software.

Sentinel is unable to change a trunked system type, and it appears that the scanners cannot do it either. It is so fundamental to the system that it is not editable. If you want a new system type, then you have to create a new system.

So if Sentinel stores your NXDN system as P25, you will not be able to just change it to NXDN later. And if Sentinel uploads the system to your scanner as P25, you won't be able to change it in the scanner, either.

:roll:If you read my post..Sentinel does NOT store it as a P25 System!!. It only displays as one in Sentinel. The Flag that tells the radio what type of system is STILL in the FL. (You can verify this by opening the hpd file with notepad. Note the nxdn trunk type to the right of the system name. Also note the Freq CH & RAN are saved as well) [hence the example shown in my original post]

YOU WOULD NOT HAVE TO RE-CREATE A NEW SYSTEM WHEN SENTINEL IS UPDATED. IT WILL JUST SHOW NXDN AS NXDN NOT P25 AS IT CURRENTLY DOES AND THE SITE CH#/LCN AND RAN WILL DISPLAY AS EXPECTED

I have already performed this operation and can verify it works!
If you don't understand; Then just wait for Uniden to update the software.

Sentinel can't change a System that is created, but you can do it manually with notepad.

Also If you properly created the nxdn system using the radio then read it off the radio Sentinel does not revert it back despite the confusing (to some) display.
