Alright thanks. Since I do not have any experiance with the software, what would you prefer best? Is the ARC15 Pro "really" worth it? Is the ARC15 Basic "really" worth it? Is the ARC15 Lite "really" worth it? Which do you find preforms best for its price/version?

All of the ARC programs are "really" worth it and I would even go as far to say that its the easiest to use out of all the software options.

Alert + limits reception to only channels or scan events that have an alert tone assigned. I call it "girlfriend mode" because it keeps the scanner very quiet unless there is activity on one of my alert channels.

Uniden Software

Does Uniden BCT15 have DEMO software or do you just have to buy it right out?

UASD also has demo mode. A few limitations in demo include:

Limit to 5 systems written to the scanner and they must be named specifically (see the UASD Help file or the popup that comes up when you write).

Erase first is always checked and cannot be disabled.

Hi All,
I was hesitant to purchase a Uniden Product because of all of the reports of poor sensitivity. But I really wanted to try one out so I went ahead and purchased a BCT15...HOLY CRAP, this is one of the best scanners I have ever owned! It's sensitivity is actually quite amazing!! I am picking up things I have never picked up on any scanner before...that includes my PRO-96 and 97. My hat is off to you Uniden!! The features on the Uniden products are simply amazing!! I am in love with the dynamic memory!! Now I just have to come up with some cash to buy a 396 and 996....
Paul,(UPMAN) I just want to kiss your tail end for a minute too...I think it is great that you are such a strong presence here on RR and that it is obvious that you have truly listened to the customers when desiging the newer Uniden products...in a nutshell, YOU DA MAN!!

Forum help with new BCT15

Thanks to all. Maalox (blake) has been a great help. Blake, received my ARC15 Basic today so perhaps I will not be bothering you with phone calls in the future. FWTW, I picked up a PRO96 to scan the Nashville, TN area (digital). Thanks again.

Cheers,

Cliff

Hi all.

I am new to this scanning stuff. I recently bought a BCT 15.
I have a clue on entering regular frequencies and scanning those, but have not been able to listen to the trunked frequencies that I input. How does my scanner scan the trunked systems and not the regular frequencies?

Also, I am trying to use the UASD software, but my scanner is not being recognized. I have a USB to Serial cable from Radio Shack. The cable is recognized, but the scanner is not.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

1) Read the article included with the scanner's docs.

2) Gain an understanding of how trunking systems work (so you'll know how to program them) by reading the Trunking info in this site's Wiki.

3) For the scanner not being recognized, this is usually because you haven't set the COM port setting in the software to match the COM port assigned to the USB-to-Serial cable. To find out what the cable's COM port assignment is, go to Device Manager (in Windows) and look at the COM ports. Also, UASD will only give you the option of selecting those COM ports that are actually detected on the computer, so you could just try each one it offers until the software can "see" the scanner. Note that that USB converter cable will be assigned to a different COM port if you plug it into a different USB port on your PC.

Thanks for the quick response.

I read the article that came with the scanner. I was able to enter the data as discussed in the article.
I have some what of a clue how trunking works, I just can't figure out how to get the scanner to look at the trunked frequencies vs. the frequencies that I put in by hand. Reading the manual I get lost, it jumps around a bit.

Also on the COM port, the cable is on COM6 which the software allowed me to switch to, but I am getting the error:
Communication Error! Please Check Scanner Remote Setting.
Where is the scanner remote setting?
