I live in Corinth, MS. The city police dept are using new radios, 700mhz i think. I can not find them on the scanner though. Does anyone know the input frequency they use? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Inputs are +30 MHz of the output. Not sure what good that'll do you though. Unless you're almost literally looking at the source, hearing something on an input freq is going to be pretty spotty at best. Especially if all they have are portables like Lucedale PD does.

Being newcomers to MSWIN it's quite possible they are using TDMA nearly fulltime, if not 100% of the time too. So without one of the 3 P25 Phase II capable models you won't hear them regardless. Then on top of all that, if they came onboard fully encrypted (e.g. Ellisville PD) then you're just plain SOL, all the way 'round.

Not sure exactly how the connection is being made, but all Harrison County units involved in todays Mardi Gras parade are using R8 SE 1. All comms from the many different units present are using the same RID. Seems there may be some sort of bridge/patch/link between the county TRS and MSWIN. Sound quality, while clearly legible, is definitely a bit different than "normal" MSWIN comms too.

They also used this TG the other night for the I-10 closure for the work MDOT did. A few Harrison County agency units were present then, along with the MHP and MDOT units that were assigned to the detail.

Some calls heard:
Biloxi (PD dispatch position)
Harrison (SO dispatch position)
D'Iberville ##
SO ## (Harrison SO units)
"All Gulfport Units"
"All Biloxi Units"
AMR ##
Many numeric only IDs

So I guess this is a bit of a milestone in the Events/Interop part of MSWIN. Look forward to seeing how Fat Tuesday goes now. Last year was a hot mess of MDOT using their C-C channel, DMR using their channel AND having loaner radios for the county EDACS, chasing after idiots and grabbing the wrong radio to call it in, etc...

Hey David, that include the RID's for JPD, HCSO, JFD, etc on the Hinds County TRS also? Or just MSWIN RID's? *As you'll be in that coverage for 20ish miles.* Also note that ALL Pike County LEA's are now DMR and can't be monitored on an scanner.

And if we don't have the Copiah SO, Crystal Springs PD, FD TG's found by the time of your next trip, run that wildcard and see if you can get lucky enough to nab em either on the way down, or back up.... That goes for the multitude of other TG's we don't have listed yet.... And there are a lot of them.

Mif and the rest of the gang

Yes that includes all agencies

When I do get a chance to go, I will try and get as many as I can ID'd and submit to the right wiki page. But I will also post a notice for the ones I do not get id'd.

Thanks

HomePatrol--MSWIN

While scanning with the HomePatrol using the full database, the HomePatrol stays on the MSWIN site about 4 or 5 secounds.

This causes it to miss some communications-- county frequencies, ect.

Is there a way to keep it from staying on the MSWIN site that much time?

Thanks

How many tower sites are you scanning on MSWIN? Setting it where it only scans the one closest to you, which I would figure to be the one at Dennis, either in a favorites list or by setting range, should give you the shortest scan time, or so I would think. On my 536, I scan the Mantachie, Otto Forrest and Tremont sites, and it only takes it about 3 seconds to go through those three.

Thanks bama9999. I have Tremont, Otto Forest, Dennis, and Iuka MSWIN tower sites, that are being scanned.
I will delete those and just keep the Dennis tower programed in. I will see how that works.

I was thinking there might be a HOLD Time on the HomePatrolthat cloud be set to 0, for the those sites My 996t has a Hold time that lets the scanner stay on cetain group 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, ect. secounds

I have the GRE 500 with the same tower sites(Tremont, Otto Forest, Dennis, and Iuka)active. The 500 scans those four sits instantly. About a 10 of a secound.

I will try what you suggested, and see how that works.

Thanks

I think you're right about there being a place to set the hold time to zero. I don't own a Homepatrol, so I'm just going on what I've read about them, but I think the 536 is pretty similar in how it operates, and you can set the hold time on them.

Another thing is that since the HP uses the RR database, it may be scanning through all the frequencies and not just the control channel frequencies, which would tend to slow it down a bit. My Pro197 also seems to scan MSWIN a bit faster than my 536, but in my Pro197 I only have the control channel frequencies programmed, and on my 536 I've not trimmed the frequencies down to control channel only yet.

Good luck with it, and I hope you get it setup like you're wanting to.

I'm pretty confident that any agencies coming online on MSWIN currently, or in the future, will be phase 2. The Uniden BCD536HP should fit just like the 996XT did, as it's the same size. The display backlight of the 536 is said to be white, but mine definitely has more of a light blue tint to it. On my Pioneer stereo, I can change the colors to pretty much any combination I want to, and it's easy to get it to match up to the 536's backlight.

As for a mobile antenna, I use the glass mount scanner antenna from Radio Shack and I get great coverage of MSWIN.

Most of Jones Public Safety is now on MSWIN using the one site of the old Legacy Jones County TRS that was converted. Still 800 MHz, but now P25.

Has anyone noticed the Forrest County site using an P25 CC yet? Or just USM PD so far using other sites to try out the MSWIN?
