KE5TLF what frequency do you have showing as the control channel where you're at? The Tower site at HWY 57 and HWY 90 has been off line now for over a month. When the National Governor's conference came to Biloxi, Motorola came and setup 2 SOWs one at the coliseum, and one just north of Beau Rivage right next to I-110 and they installed a microwave relay site at the Biloxi PD on a 110 foot portable mast. All of it is still there, and still operating.

When I'm in Biloxi I can hear BMR talking on it all the time their talkgroup is 21800 and the control channel is 770.9750 usually. But ever since they put that thing on the air I haven't been able to find the CC for the site in gautier.

So since you live close to me, what freq are you getting the cc on where you heard id 5 active on last night. Thanks.

Just the Marine one.. It now has its primary and unit to unit tg's thus far.. two other encrypted tg's were noted, but have not been active in a while so were apparently for testing. The newer sites being verified are using a different SysID than the original FEMA supplied sites. Also of note is that all the Phase I sites are IDing in the 1XX range, and the Phase II sites are all IDing in the 0XX range... So as as soon as at least all the Phase II, lower half sites come online, and are trunking, we should be able to identify Zones clearer. Keep watching guys.

Not sure if this is related or not, but during the National Governor's conference in Biloxi last month there were several active encrypted talkgroups on the MSWIN site they setup in down town biloxi. Most of those were security details for all of the dignitaries. I heard a little bit of MHP traffic but not much.

Scratch that, I found it. I haven't been on the database in a couple of months and wow there sure is a lot more sites listed, jackson county 2??? didn't know about that one, so I found the CC 770.91870 mhz. We're golden now... Oh also since they're is signs of life on it I'm scanning it along with Jackson County TRS on my feed here.

Central MS MSWIN

OK according to the Clarion Ledger they can talk to the coast from Jackson using the MSWIN. I need anyone with 700 MHZ capability to do a search in the following areas for activity... Hinds Co, Copiah Co, Simpson Co, Lawrence Co especially. Please document any CC's, Site Numbers etc. If they are able to do comms then they have sites online to do so. As well as the two or three mobiles sites..... But with the limited range of the mobile sites, there is no way to have a solid line of coverage... And anyone that has a link to how to search for sites, such as the towers of MS site, please post it...

Latest map from MS ITS

This is from the Spring 09 PDF release from the MS ITS on the MSWIN. Keep in mind that as of now many more sites are online, with new ones coming online weekly.

Also note that the first tier of sites that are FEMA sites is NOT listed on the maps, and is online and trunking and a part of the MSWIN. Also the official designation for the system per ITS is- "Mississippi Wireless Integrated Network"

New ID heard and identified today. This morning while heading home from work I was monitoring the East Biloxi SOW SID:02ADh-0198 on 770.9750 and heard a lot of activity on ID 101 which is being used by MS Dept of Transportation. I happened to be behind an MDOT vehicle and could visibly see the driver talking into his portable and could hear him on 101 talking to another guy.

Apparently they're only talking locally through the East and West Biloxi SOWs because I could not hear them on Jackson County 2 or Harrison County sites. BTW East Biloxi SOW is located directly across from the Beau Rivage in a secured parking lot, and West Biloxi SOW is located at the MS Coast Coliseum parking lot. I'll get the SID, cc frequency and post that later.

MSWIN Almost died painful death

As of just a very short few days ago, this whole project almost was killed painfully by lack of funding... And that was due to FEMA issues... Beuracracy at its best Y'all!

Hmm may have to go directly to the MWCC meetings page and go from there... Thats where I found it,, They don't have the minutes from the latest meeting up yet. But essentially the FEMA requires additional historic/preservation studies on all sites before any further funds can be released, and Motorola needed paid.... So they had to do some fast working to get things back rolling or go broke and M not get paid.. thus killing the WHOLE thing right there. From the way that things are still rolling, apparently things were resolved.

BTW any site that shows as 198, 199, 200 etc.. is an SOW

There are three regular SOW's and one MSOW (Master Site On Wheels)

Also of note Hinds County Board of Supervisors approved the request by TOM LLC to do site construction back in like April. So at least one Hinds County Site is going up for Phase II A

Not sure what TG 101 is but it doesn't really sound DOT related. Unless they are shuttling people between Casinos and the Airport. From what I am hearing it is a shuttle service for the airport. So far have heard references to the following:

Van numbers up to #18
"The Greens" (whatever that is)
The Airport
The Base
The Beau Rivage, The Hard Rock, and IP Casinos.
As I type this someone (apparently a dispatcher type) is trying to find out which shuttle some guys luggage is on.

Update: Van #15 leaving the Beau going to Wal-Mart.
Mr. Dispatcher guy just sent an attention all drivers asking if they do not have a cooler in their van with drinks and/or snacks to identify themselves. LOL

Published today.
Four years after Katrina.
http://www.governorbarbour.com/images/28.8.09FourYearsAfterKatrina.pdf

From pages 23 and 24:

The Administration requested that FEMA allow the state to use a portion of its $433 million hazard mitigation allocation to build a state-wide interoperable communications system, Mississippi Wireless Interoperability Network (MSWIN). FEMA, however, denied this request.
Governor Barbour requested that Congress reprogram a portion of Mississippi’s hazard mitigation allocation for MSWIN, a request that Congress has granted by redirecting $140 million for interoperable communications, including $100 million in the June appropriations bill.
These funds are allowing a statewide build out of the
system. Construction is underway and a year ahead of schedule. The system construction is complete and is being tested from Highway 84 to the Coast and along the Highway 49 and Interstate 55 corridors into Jackson. This portion of MSWIN can now be activated in the event of an emergency. The remainder of construction is projected to be complete in central Mississippi by June 2010 and in north Mississippi by March 2011.

Phase I is almost done with the final few sites being finished now. Phase II will begin with the Highway 27, 28, 61, and I-20/I-59 Corridors in Part A, then spread through the Metro Jackson area in Part B, then finally the rest of the coverage are in Part C. They are working around the clock on the final Phase I sites. As soon as Phase III is underway the interconnecting IP systems bidding will begin for setting up of infrastructure for County/Municipal linking. Full operational status with County/Municipal subscribers is slated to be running by 2012. Its nice to have family in State Government.

Well as of this evening they are letting the Biloxi/Gulfport airport shuttle service play then. That is what is on TG 101 right now. The dispatcher just sent. "Attention all airport shuttle drivers, please check in with location and status."

Dunno if they've patched in their normal radio system to MSWIN or gave them a bunch of HT's to use for testing purposes or what but today and tonight TG 101 is all airport shuttle service traffic. All radio ID's on TG 101 i've logged today are in the lower half of the 500's fwiw. 27 different radios so far.

EDIT: OKAY! Apparently maybe most or all of this comm traffic has to do specifically with the Governor's Cup golf tourney that is starting tomorrow? Maybe this is a special detail of shuttles? I dunno
