doubtful that they will use that system for the fair.. Everyone in the past has been using the hinds county system, but I guess that could that change.

Welcome back! BTW, if you get a chance to see if you can log the MWIN sites for Jackson it would be lovely! CC and Site ID, neighbors if you can. TY

Is the system not broadcasting alias??????

Dunno. What I do know is Freescan, ARC500, and ARC396PRO all download exactly what is displayed on the web page. I've tried ticking and unticking all the naming options I can find in the programs and downloaded numerous times with all possible combinations, all with the same result.

Another annoyance is group names longer than 16 characters. "Mississippi Department of Whatever" becomes truncated to "Mississippi Depar" and in turn becomes totally uninformative. AFAIK this has always been the case for all programs for as long as I know. I know I've edited them down a bunch of times anyway. Maybe I've been doing something wrong all this time. I dunno.

Also note, changes to the SW MS sites asap, due to realignment with FEMA sites integrating, and full wide area trunking. Also according to both the contractors maps there are 45 sites in Phase I... this includes the SOW's... so 4 SOW sites, and 41 towers. Some of which are existing towers being used by the MSWIN.
HEH. I'd never done a side by side comparison of the maps until just now and now I see what you mean. I'd been working strictly off the map with all triangles. Either way the site numbers and names for the sites I've visited matches exactly with both maps and the ASR data. Now that I've looked a little closer I am thinking that whoever made the triangles map did pretty much the same thing I did using only the ASR data. I am sure those are all new construction sites so maybe the remaining unnaccounted for sites on that map are at pre-existing towers?

Also note- FCC site names are so mixed up its not funny. Rarely can you depend on that. Where do you think the messed up name for Vancleave came from? LOL

You can pretty much go by the actual data from the system, actual observations, and from actual site info from the contractors, etc.
Agreed and I'm looking forward to doing some more of exactly that. It's pretty fun getting out and doing recon for this stuff. Gives me a reason to get out and see a lot of the state I've never seen before too.:)

Doing a raw feed into Pro96Com of the CC will list site alias from the tower.. Also the 396 XT I know displays site alias off the CC data. T88 and UT also will display the alias from CC data. Most of the timethe FCC database will list the site name Van Cleave,.. or have say Vancleave listed as in another county entirely due to data entry error. Not to mention that the newest City of Madison tower that is part of the CMSRTRS is listed as being on the gulf coast per FCC site data LOL... Thats why I don't completely trust it.

Also note that some of the pre existing towers are leased towers, not State Owned. This will also happen in Phase II, and Phase III. As Cellular South has the MWIN Cellular Contract, I'd hazard to guess some of their towers are leased.....???

Ah ok, thanks for the explanation. Still learning CC decoding and haven't seen (or looked for, for that matter) site alias info in the decoding. I've been using a PRO 197 (at home) and a PRO 106 on the road if that matters. I have a 396XT too and will play with decoding with it at some point soon.

Yes I guess it's safe to say I'm officially hooked now. It is a fun, interesting and exciting looking for and then finding this stuff.

On another note I was just looking at some of the site details where you have entered Lat/Lon info and apparently the DB engine automatically enters the N for north and W for west. I'm guessing you pasted in the coordinates as provided which also had the N & W in them and the N's and W's are doubled which I assume also breaking the google map.

On a positive note things are looking better and better every day in general. Appreciate your efforts and hope I'm not being to anal about this stuff. HEHE

Have a good night sir! :)

Still not formatted right. I browsed around and found some other multi-site systems and it appears it has to be formatted in decimal degrees. (DDD.DDDD) Also it appears you need to use the leading negative sign (-) for west longitude.

RadioReference.com - Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference Database

RadioReference.com - Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference Database

I'll do conversions on all of the data I have and post it up later for ya'.

Does anyone know if any of the memory mangement softwares for scanners that are GPS capable pulls this data from the DB? Is that data even available to programs? This will be the first multi-site system of interest for me (and several others I imagine) so I have no idea. I hope to have that all set up and working on my 396XT before my next outing one way or the other.

I thought they pulled the data from GPS units, or direct link to GPS.... Dunno for sure, never messed with the newest toys yet, can't afford it lol.

Incidentally, still get a hit on freq. 764.78125c at this tower location, but it is not showing up on Pro96Com, but it is definitely coming from this tower site---Any thoughts about what's going on here????
