I looked at the map of North and South I am a couple miles into PA and I am outside the red circles , Does that mean I am SOL now to hear anything ?

Those ranges are approximate. You need to program the system to know if you can actually hear it, no one can answer that except you.

If you're in Pike County, you're going to have a tough time pulling in South, so try North. There's a subsite on Heater Hill, although the antenna pattern does focus the RF back into Orange County.

Ok ill give North a shot, weird they wouldnt make a wider swath, Port Jervis PD had a pursuit years ago and followed the guy all the way to Dingmans Ferry . Im guessing if that happened now they wouldnt be able to stay in contact with their Dispatch.

You don't build out trunked systems "just in case" a once-a-year event might happen. You build out to get the best coverage in your primary area. Subsites are not cheap, and neither is linking them to the system core. It would be an utter waste of millions of dollars to have any coverage into Pike County beyond the Matamoras/Westfall area, which Heater Hill covers just fine.

Where in Milford? Down in the borough, or more towards Dingman? You're probably going to have to be either closer to the Westfall side where you can get Heater Hill line of sight, or you'll probably need to be more towards Dingman Township where you start to get some elevation going up 2001 and Christian Hill. Milford itself is a bit of a dead spot for that site due to low elevation and surrounding terrain.

And shutting your ass and giving your mouth a chance is pretty amazing too . Try it .
Nice attitude, except he isn't wrong. If you had simply programmed the system into the scanner, you could've been listening for the last hour, instead of posting about it. Even just putting the control channels into quick tune would've made it very obvious what you could receive. Don't get angry because you overlooked the obvious, we went through the same thing in the PA STARNet thread a year or so ago when you failed to do some very basic reading on your own.

I simply answered your question regarding programming only the control/alternate channels, you know those "blue and red" ones you asked about. I was just excited for you to give it a try !

Enter the control channel like you would for lets say Pike County's VHF repeater. If you hear it, you're good to go then for programming it for trunking.
