The Orange County Fire channel has been working great since it came back online in early November, but it's been down now since Friday night or early Saturday morning? With all the rain falling the FD probably has a lot of activity right now - hope it comes back up soon.

i know it is frustrating it is already down again, we are having epic weather in so cal and the scanner feed is down, finally after a month i got the scanner feed on my internet radio adapter and bam the feed is down again.

The OCFA feed has been down since sometime early 11-11-11. Any update when it will be back? It's worked great for about a year since the last time it was down for any length of time.

OC Feed Down?

Same question here. This is my first post here but I have been scanning in OC for 25 years (and I'm 30 years old - haha). I bounce between this feed on my iPhone and my Radio Shack Pro-96 Digital Trunker.

Two questions:

-When will the feed be back up?

-Did the 2-N missing tac issue ever get fixed? I don't think so. Really annoying, 'cause
I live in Fullerton, and MetroNet puts all structure fires, MCIs/MVAs, and all the other really interesting calls (indoor gas leak, plane crash, etc.) on 2-N instead of 2-G, the normal Fullerton tac.

Just to add to my street cred, my first scanner was a Radio Shack with crystals (!!) 10-channel simplex. I forget the model but still have it. Fullerton PD was 460.175, and I was pretty devastated when they encrypted. I'd give anything to decode that - and no, I'm not a criminal! Just a huge scanner buff.

Anyway, hope someone can answer.

What is funny is that all of Orange County Police department talkgroups are encrypted but LAPD is fully wide open on P25 Digital to all of the Gang Bangers carrying around scanners for criminal activity. Once a city goes encrypted they never go back to to un-encrypted. Bummer to all of scanner hobbyist.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.3.3; en-us; DROID2 GLOBAL Build/4.5.1_57_D2G-38) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

OC loves controlling things. They want to protect their image. And they feel that encryption meets their needs.

LAPD is only about 25% "open" and then only to those who can buy or otherwise get a hold of a digital scanner. Between 2/3 and 3/4 of all their calls go by MDC and never a word is said over the air.

I suppose it was considered a conspiracy to hide things when they left the AM broadcast band in the 1960's when almost nobody had VHF radios, another conspiracy when they went to the fairly new UHF-T band and MDTs in the 1980s, and yet another one when they went digital. And the departments who went to trumking before trunktrackers arrived were also co-conspirators. Really now?

Unfortunately, 2-N is north cell only.....

Wouldn't it be great to add a column for "cell" in the CCCS listing in the data base? Each Talkgroup could be identifed by the cell they are locked to. I have some of this data, but not all. In this way you could make sure you where listening to the correct cell depending on what you wanted to monitor.

I think if we added this column it would reduce a lot of confusion. thoughts?

2-n?

Great that the feed is operational again and all -- but I'm still lost on 2-N. I live in Fullerton, so anything incident worth scanning gets shifted to 2-N instead of 2-G or the other local city tacs. What gives? Is there any way to add 2-N to this feed? It would make my year! :)

Thanks,

Gabriel

Don't think the Admins will go for it.
The wiki, however has much of this info already.

Last I checked, this feed provider is not in range of the North Cell.

The wiki is missing much infromation; it's to generic as to cities (rather than talkgropups) being on certain cells. Not sure how to easily translate that to what cell Western med center is on, etc. Also, as an example just today there was a thread about which cell is JWA on? That info is not in the wiki or the database.

Anyway, what's the point of the having the wiki define all this, why can't it be in the database? What's the point of identifying a talkgroup ID in the database if you don't also identify which frequency to pick it up on?

Things are listed the manner they are in the Db because that is how the Db structure is set up.

There really is no current means short of building separate systems in the DB for each cell (which creates a further admin logistics headaches) and list only the TG’s that would be applicable for such cells. So you'd end up with multiple CCCS systems in the Db - a North, South, Countywide, etc..

Yes you can argue this should be changed, though I’m not sure how much demand there is to make a universal database design worthwhile, nor even where it would sit in the development priority queue if accepted.

For now, the Wiki indeed is the best place for the info if users want to compile a list, however I’d like to draw ones attention to the extensive notes already in the CCCS entry including detailed explanations of what cities/agencies utilize what cells. Short of specific TGs, seems to me the info is already spelled out for those that can review the page.

Time to get out on the internet and buy yourself a real radio. Internet feeds are delayed plus you can't change to different tacticals.

Here is a list of the Talkgroups for the Countywide, South, North, Northwest, Laguna, Moorhead. Nothing is on Laguna, or Moorhead ever except PD, plus if you wanted pickup the control channel you would have to be living right in laguna area. Very spotty down in Laguna as well as the Countywide Cell is spotty too. This is why Laguna Fire is on the South Cell because there is a good signal down by the beach. If you are going through Laguna Canyon road the canyons cut out all of the 800mhz signal since 800mhz is line of site.

Also Laguna Fire has a dedicated talkgroup which is 5K which is for paramedics to hospital talkgroup which is on the South Cell. They will contact base hospital and in Laguna and get dropped through the canyon. They will re-contact once they get through Laguna Canyon RD.

Also below there is nothing ever on 5-G 1680. Everything with Laguna fire is on 5-H 1712. All Fire Dispatch and Tactical is done on 5-H

2-B (592) - Countywide/Carbon Canyon
2-J (3536), 2-K (3568), 2-M (3632), 2-N (3664) - North
3-A through 3-E (720, 752, 2224, 2256, 2288) - South
3-J (3728), 3-K (3760) - South
4-J (4016), 4-K (4048) - Northwest
5-G (1680) - Laguna, Moorhead
5-H (1712) - Laguna, Moorhead, South
5-I (4208), 5-J (4240) - South

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but does this scanner still exist anymore? I can't seem to be able to connect to it using ProScan.

It was down for a few days but it's back. I was listening to it on my Droid on my lunch time walk yesterday. Easier to listen on the phone then have a clunky radio hanging on my belt.

My thanks to the host/owner for streaming.

I am using the Butel software for a Radio Shack 106 scanner. Payed for the frequency download from Radio Reference but many things are not looking right. First I can not enter anything in to the Trunk System Objects or Trunk Systems. Field is gray without the ability to enter information? Any ideas?

Careful when you say ALL gang bangers... That is an ignorant statement. We have scanner hobbist that cant even program digital scanners.
