Hi Folks - For the most part I've really enjoyed the HP-2. There are a couple of quirks, but that's not the point here.

I doubled checked my firmware version this week and it remained the same from when I updated it upon arrival. The local (Coral Springs FL/Broward County), Palm Beach County and parts of Miami-Dade all loaded easily from the get-go.

However, over the last week or so, I've noticed that I'm no longer receiving any broadcasts from our local FD, Coral Springs Fire. I've verified the talkgroups as correct. So, this evening, I checked on Broadcastify for the provider of the feed. His feed is offline and he notes that he's updating the P25 data of his scanner, though I don't know which model he is using.

I then double-checked the firmware and it remains fine. Is there something else I need to do to be able to receive this signal. Or is a matter of the work they are doing on the system?
Thanks!

You need to update the DATABASE, not the firmware. Select the other 'update option'.

Thanks, Voyager. I did that earlier this afternoon, as well. I've been running all the Coral Springs fire frequencies since about 6:45 PM with no reception.
But thanks for the reminder!

The RR info was just updated for that System today, so performing a database update after Monday might fix whatever the issue is.

HP-2 P25 Update

Well, instead of waiting for this evening, I just connected my HP-2, activated the software, checked the firmware (it was fine) and performed the update for the database. It appears to have upgraded properly.
However, after shutting down the software, disconnecting the unit, I turned it on am still not received my local municipality of Coral Springs FL. But, is it MY fault? Since I updated the software database, do I now have to write the database TO the HP-2 and then I'll be fine?

That last step makes sense to me, however I thought best to check with the couple on here who know the system better than I do. It's easier to avoid an error than to correct one!

Thanks,

Steve

You do have to write the database to the scanner before it will be usable by the scanner. Make sure the date is recent on your update.

The database update is always a 2 step process. Check page 6 of the HP-2 Owners Manual.

Just wanted to express my thanks for all of your help. With your assistance, got the database updated on the software and then on the scanner. Receiving the local fire/EMS just fine again. The hint that I spotted when examining my files after the software downloaded was a renamed local set. As soon as I selected it, I was back in business.
Once again, thanks for your patience and assistance.
