In Concord this evening and found a new one -
7122 - CABROW
CABROW is used for Rowan County units in the Kannapolis and Enochville area to be able to talk back to Rowan Communications because the Salisbury TRS doesn't get good coverage that far south right now. It was also used as a "mutual aid" type TG between Rowan & Cabarrus units back in the day before the fleetmaps supported the different county TG's.

Can't seem to get the BER down
I am experirencing a high Bit Error rate on the decoding of this system with a BCD396XT. I have the system programmed by downloading it into Free Scan. I have a full receive signal strenght in several locations but a high BER almost all the time. Any ideas what may be wrong with any programming?

Harold I use FreeSCAN as well. If you want to email me a copy of your programming file and let me look at it. My reception is flawless for the Concord system on my 396XT. Matter of fact I can pick it up in my house on the northwest side of Salisbury using just a stubby 800 antenna.
I'll be happy to get it fixed up for ya !!

Harold try this. I have the 396xt also...when downloaded from the DB with Freescan you will notice that it has this system listed as a Mot type 2/p25 system.....change that to a P25 standard system. Not Moto...it will help decode much better I have found. Let me know what you find out....

No problem Harold. The last response about changing the system type is a good idea. If you have it set to Mot Type II/P25 instead of a P25 Standard it won't decode at all correctly.
Try that out and if it doesn't work then just shoot that over to me and I'll fix it for ya !!

Working better. What I had originally downloaded had it set to Mot type 2/p25. I was adding a few new TGs as they were being listed here. But over the weekend I downloaded the system again just to get all the recent updated TGs since there were so many new ones, and now it is set for P25 Standard which works much better.
Download FreeSCAN and make purchase a programming cable if you haven't already. I'm working on a basic file for starters that I'll send out in the next day or so.
Just got a good chunk of the file done. Those with digital Uniden scanners (supported by FreeSCAN) are more than welcome to email me for the file. Right now it has EMS & Fire talkgroups for the P25 systems in Mecklenburg, Union, Cabarrus, & York. Once I get most everything completed, then I'll put it up on the forums (to prevent constant updating).

I could tell what agency by listening to the numbers, as well as a few voices on it. Also confirmed by someone in the know with Cabarrus Sheriff.
