P25RX Firmware Updates / Testing

Yep, did it exactly as you instructed. Always error when "discovering device" upon the final power cycle after the firmware install. Tried it on 3 different machines always the same.

The recovery firmware erases the flash memory (takes a few seconds), then turns the leds on. It doesn't do anything after that. You should be able to cycle the power and load firmware after that. Did you try loading firmware prior to the recent releases? It doesn't really make sense that there would be an issue, since the bootloader hasn't changed. Send me an email if you would like to send the receiver back for inspection / return.

In theory, it shouldn't be possible. It is "write protected" in the MCU. If you are still able to transfer firmware images, then I don't think it is the bootloader. I'm going to send another DM with an alternate version of the recovery firmware that erases flash in a different order. Give that a try. Same thing, load it, wait for the leds to turn on. After that, cycle power and load firmware as normal.

I loaded 2021-03-08_0546 at about 08:00 CST this morning and it ran ok until about 10:00 CST. Then it quit RX and had to restart. SIG & TG light lit but no audio. Running on a win 10 desktop through pc speakers. Audio was good and clear up until it quit.
Previous 2021-02-24_1047 had been running 24/7 no problems.

Todd is the man, got me running again.. Let me clarify I was frustrated for the night not in the P25rx as a whole.

I just started running _0847 an hour ago on Cobb County's system. So far so good. I have had this running while my old 996P2 is running the same TGs. It is amazing how much the 996 misses!

I had _0847 USB lock up. I think I know why now. There is a new version with another attempt to fix that issue: 2021-03-08_0948. This version also changes the way that phase II audio is buffered. Let me know if this change is no good, so I can put it back the way it was.

I like that I can have the P25RX in the computer room and take a BT speaker around the house and hear whats going on.

Running 0948 now, but just a few minutes into it. 0847 did OK here, until it was replaced. I am running the USB-PC audio and an external speaker on the P25RX, so far so good.

Had _0948 lock up. I found something else to try. On version 03-08_1119 now.

Still locking up. I found and fixed a definite bug. Starting to test 03-08_1635.

03-08_1635 locked up after about 1.5 hours. Went back to 02-24_1047 that seemed to be the stable one for me.

_1635 USB lock-up here too. I should note that the receiver does continue to run and work with Bluetooth / line-out. I'll keep looking. I really don't want to revert all these changes. It is working great while it works.

-edit: I put the link to 02-24_1047 back up as the "stable" version. I found something else related to USB. Starting to test 03-08_1938
