Does anyone have a .KML file with the locations of the transmitter sites? I would like to import into Google Earth if you would care to share.

Since I first saw a low-res version of an official STAR-NET map in public documents, I've wanted to explore it in Google Earth. I've recently sunk some significant time into building one. I hope others will find it useful as well!

Well, it would appear as thought the DOT groups may not be specific to a stockpile location after all. Some outside input indicates that the county maintenance talkgroups are named based on the number of assistant managers in each county. The info below is from an online PennDOT doc covering radio procedures. You'll note the assistant managers have two digit designators. Each county has a different number of assistant managers/work crews based on the local work. So, I guess we can stop speculating on stockpile names. The *County Name* 20, 30, 40 talkgroup names now listed in the DB for Lancaster Co refer to the Assistant Manager coverage zones. Each district has a different number of zones depending on district workload. But, I've been told that all the county districts are set up this way.

COUNTY MOBILE RADIO CALL ASSIGNMENT PLAN
Maintenance Manager .......................... (County) - 1
County Equipment Manager ............... (County) - 2
Specialized Crew Foreman .............................. (County) - 4 through 19
Assistant County Maintenance Manager .... (County) - 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, etc.
Foreman under Asst. Co. Maintenance Manager .... (County) - 21 through 29, 31 through 39, 41 through 49, etc.
Additional Foreman ........................... 91 through 99
Shop Pickups ............... (County) - 110 through 114
Fuel Trucks ................... (County) - 115 through 119
Sign Trucks ................... (County) - 121 through 124
Low Boy Trucks ........... (County) - 125 through 129
Special Equipment ...... (County) - 130 through 139
Dump Trucks ......................... (County)-Use vehicle ID number

PEMA Statewide TG 12591 is active in Erie County today. First time I've heard it. Also, no DCNR activity in Erie so far.

I have recorded this several times now, what does Src=EXTERNAL mean ?? This is off the WEST30 site, and no RID associated

I'm sure someone else will chime in with more exact knowledge. From monitoring the AEP P25 system over here in Ohio, which has had much of the same thing in the past, those were always patches from another system. For instance, AEP has had a large EDACS system for years. They are building a new P25 system to replace it. When they bring the new P25 sites online the EDACS are still online. And they do some sort of patching between the EDACS and P25 systems. And when somebody on the EDACS system is communicating with somebody on the P25 system, the traffic coming over the P25 system from the EDACS system shows up as Src=EXTERNAL.

So I suspect it is a patch from an external system, or perhaps sort of direct console tie-in.

EXTERNAL indicates that no subscriber ID is being broadcast (null value).

It most often appears when there is a patch between conventional and trunked resources, for example if there were a patch between a DCNR repeater and the P25 trunked system. It could also appear, as @mtindor mentioned, when there is a non-ISSI patch between two systems.

Basically, anytime there is a keyup on a talkgroup from a source that doesn't encode a valid subscriber ID (aka radio ID, user ID, etc.), DSD+ is going to show it as EXTERNAL. Unitrunker will display that as either a blank Source ID or a Source ID of 0, depending on the version of the software.

I think it applies to IP/wireline connected consoles as well, vs RF control stations at dispatch points.

Venango, and surrounding areas, keep an eye out for new TGs. Venango and i think Crawford just got new radios for the system. Heard them testing with PEMA yesterday.

PEMA is replacing all the OpenSky bases issued to county comm centers with P25 consolettes. They are doing the Western Area counties first. Central and Eastern Areas after that.

Yeah... nope.... State system is either ASTRO 7.17 or 7.18.... All consoles connected have a Radio ID assigned to them.

Same in the ICORRS system. Most likely it was either an ISSI connection, or a bad data read/no data read for that entry.......

I've been waiting to see when the DCNR rangers at our local Presque Isle park would get the new P25 radios. I was there today and may have noticed a change in antennas on their vehicles. For years with OpenSky they just had a small black center-loaded antenna on each car. Today I saw they have added about a 2 foot silver antenna also on some cars. Not sure, but maybe this has to do with P25?
