I just got a Pro2096 for my father in law. We have the same scanner at work, and it works fine. I'm programming it at home, and compared to my uniden bcd325p2, it doesn't seem like its picking up much. TGID's come through, but more often than not, its silence when my Uniden is picking up stuff. I'm scanning the Houghton and Centennial Heights sites in Houghton County MI. Houghton tower jumps between 78 and 98%, Centennial Heights is similar, but a little lower (62 - 96%)
Is there something obvious I'm missing? The one we have a work (less than 2 miles away as a crow flies) seems to catch everything pretty good.

Welcome to the RR forums, Compare WX reception with the one you have at work. Does it differ drastically? What if you brought your father in law's scanner to work and connected it to the same antenna, how does it perform?

Unfortunately, I'm off until the end of March. But, maybe i'll get it programmed and set up at his house, and if it still seems like its missing transmissions, I'll take it to work this spring.

Be sure to program in all six tower RED frequencies only. For others these are separatee towers and NOT simulcast.
Not necessary at all put in the voice frequencies, which lessens responsiveness in picking up calls, same goes on the 325P2.
Also be sure to set those frequencies to MOT, Bank type to Motorola, Closed mode- otherwise you'll get a lot more traffic out of county as its the same thing as ID Search on a 325P2.

The % changes should be just if you have multiple towers in it and one is closer than than the other.

If you use ARC96 software, you can upload them in this forum post in .zip format, we can take a look at it.

I have been doing just the red (control) channels. I have changed the mode on the frequency to MO ( or whatever it is, not looking at it now), how do I turn the bank itself to motorola?
