If 406.0 doesn't work for the base frequency, try the lowest voice channel frequency as the base. The BoP sometimes does that on these trunked systems.

Sorry but both those aren't working, still seeing TG on one scanner (197) and hearing conversation on the 96

Yes, some systems change control channels every 24 hours, usually around midnight, but that's up to whoever set up the system. It's not at all unusual.

Typically, on the old 406-420 systems, there are 4 control channels and they rotate at a pre-determined time.

Using 406.21875 as the base frequency and 12.5 as the spacing, you will run out of frequencies before you get to 408.8125. So if you are absolutely sure that it is 406.82175, then they are using more than one range. Did you try 406.2875 as the base and 12.5 as the spacing?

Just remember, there can only be 380 frequencies to pick from, total. So if you start at 406.2875 and use 12.5 kHz spacing, then the end frequency will be 411.025. That will allow all of listed frequencies to be included into one range. And using the listed frequencies, they all point to 12.5 kHz spacing with a base of 406.2875.

Really appreciate all the help I'm sitting in a gas station parking lot listening and trying everything getting good TG info but can't get trunking & TG on same system. Will post TG id list later. Meanwhile I'm missing some traffic so may not have all the voice channels

You probably have the correct frequencies, but if they are using more than one range, you'll miss some traffic.

406.21875 is more than likely wrong.

406.1875 & 406.2875 both work with my calculations. Tripple check that frequency.

Neither of those worked still just getting the TG id and no voice, but I've identified a bunch of the TGs using both radios at same time, thanks for helping me get audio working.

No on the channels I heard today and yesterday from Butner federal prison are:

406.2125, 406.21875, 406.6, 407.05, 407.2, 407.2125, 408.25, 408.8125, 409.0125, 409.8125, 410.0125, 410.2125, 410.325, 410.525, 410.8125

Yesterday CC 406.6, today cc was 407.05 the SID was C514 both days.

TG ids

Medium 2
48112 Special Housing
48048 control
48032 ch 1
48064 unknown

Medium 1
16048 control
16112 ch 2
16114 unknown
16144 camp and/or medical
16080 unknown

Following are from FMC and Low, think 32 series is FMC but could not confirm :

32048 control
32096 perimeter vehicles
32032 unknown
32064 unknown
32080 unknown
01648 control
01680 perimeter

Wish we could have gotten the trunking working, but it was a fun day trying. I live an hour away & can't pick it up at home. But just had to come figure it out. Again, thanks to you both for all the help.

The 406.21875 just looks strange to me. If you are absolutely sure, I can keep trying to figure it out.

Honestly I'm not sure might have put it in after you sent it but I'm pretty sure because it's programed in the 96 bank with the others

Looks strange to me too, making me wonder but it is divided evenly by 12.5

In addition to the last list of Butner federal prison TG id's, body/radio alarms are tested at change of shift using TGs

48176 medium 2
16224 medium 1 & CAMP
32400 FMC

Also, 32 series is FMC & 016 series is the Low.

Finally, not all TG ids showed up on the 197, heard more voice traffic on the 96. Might support the thought that there are 2 sets of freqs, but I can only find one cc.

There will only be one CC at a time. I am refering to the ranges of frequencies that the radios on the system reference. You can have a total of 380 frequencies arranged in one to three ranges. The RX side ranges from 380-759 and the TX side is from 0-379. So if you input a base of 406.2125 with a spacing of 12.5 kHz, then you can fit all of the frequencies (except for 406.21875) into one range. To include 406.21875, you have to select 6.25 kHz, but starting with 406.2125, you run out of frequencies at 408.58125 (channel 759).

I see that your last frequency update included a new lowest frequency (406.2125).

Use that as your base and use 12.5 as the spacing with 380 offset.

Tried that earlier when Chris suggested trying lowest didn't work. But let's try once more before I head home.
