I just found out that the local governments are going to be moving to a 800 MHz Digital-Trunked system provided by Tusa Consulting Services. They will getting a system similar to what Harrison County, Mississippi has(which looks to be the Pro Voice Digital. After doing about 30 seconds of research, I discovered some information from 2006 that states that the Pro Voice Digital radios cannot be monitored by scanners. Is this correct?

If that is correct, are there any plans for scanners to be capable of monitoring those radios any time soon?

No, it cannot be monitored.

No, there are no plans for any scanner to monitor it. It's a proprietary system, and scanners would have to be licensed by the manufacturer of ProVoice systems to decode it... which they won't be, since 'can't be monitored' is a major selling point for the system.

The only possible way to monitor it would be to buy an actual ProVoice radio, and have it properly programmed.

TUSA is a consultant and does not provide radio systems.

If they did the design, the issue would be what is defined in their specifications and/or design and how is it going to be procured.

Do you know for a fact that they are requiring direct compatible with Harrison Co?

Do you know if they are going to bid?
