It might have been better to place this in the 1.7 firmware wishlist thread so my apologies beforehand but I am not certain if this could be accomplished with a firmware update or not. It may fall under the 'next model' wishlist.
At any rate I would like to have the ability to receive FM radio stations with this scanner. Several years ago I had a RS Pro-26 handheld that could do this and yes, it is a novelty to listen to classic-rock on a scanner though the point is I did enjoy listening to 'news' which strikes me as an obvious use for a scanner. I cannot think of a valid reason why our current "big brother" governments would demand this freq range be excluded such as the 'cell' range.
I won't start ranting about public airwaves being public property though it should be interesting to see if this Draconian reasoning is ever going to be applied to overhearing a 'private' conversation on the street (assuming that the air space on the sidewalk is still considered public property).
Pro-106 - great radio, best yet in handhelds IMO. Purchased the Diamond RH-77CA antenna and it did provide some noticable improvement. For you Canadian readers out there here is a link to a great Toronto store to order this antenna from:
RH-77CA [DIA-RH77CA] - $30.00 : Radioworld Canada Amateur Ham Radio GPS Marine VHF SSB radios Shortwave Wideband Radio Scanners CB FRS Central Toronto Ontario Canada
My apologies if this violates the forum rules; I am not affiliated with this store. I post this URL because the nimro......errrr gentleman from the Diamond website insists that the only shipping option available for this $21.95 U.S. antenna to Canada is $30 U.S.
