I was doing some bidding online and i think i just bought a radio shack pro 652 . What could i use this scanner for i know it's p25 phase 1 and analog but will it hear any dmr or nxdn at all?

what about programming what software should i use to program it?

Also on the back of it is This label and i'm just a curious person by nature but could there be a way to modify a scanner to listen to cell phones?

Thanks guys

I use Starrsoft but the developer left and has not been heard from for years you can still buy it but no support.
Try this it has a 30 day free trial.
This cable still works

i have a fm filter on my antenna and i was messing around with some cables earlier and i unplugged all antennas going to my rtl-sdr's and i was flipping through sdr++ and i noticed that the closest radio station to me was still hearable . does it put out that much power that u can hear it without a antenna plugged into the sdr? i even have a fm filter on the thing.

The you have a very high power very close to you that is very likely to be cause you to have problems.
i have a fm filter but it's still hearable. is there anyway to completely block the signal? i really wish i could find a way to block just 1 freqs because i have identified the freqs that is causing my overload issue but i have freqs right next to it that i listen to.

Do you have an outside antenna? We had a paging transmitter getting into all our scanners in the newsroom. I installed a 2-stage tunable notch filter into the antenna line which eliminated the problem. How are you feeding the antenna to the SDR and 652? You could have signals from the dongle getting into the 652. You need isolation between receivers sharing a common antenna. We have had oscillator signals from scanners interfering with each other. Try turning off the computer with the dongle. Connect the antenna to the 652 only (with FM filter inline) and see if the interference on the 652 goes away. If you have a preamp on an outside antenna with a FM or TV station nearby, the preamp can overload and have intermod problems which creates all kinds of interfering signals. If you have a preamp on your antenna (outside or inside), get rid of it.

I'm not sure how close to the center of Grundy, VA you live, but there is an FM with their tower on top of a mountain a little over 5 km away from the middle of Grundy. The station is WMJD 100.7mhz. ERP is 2.3kw. There is one other station close to the same distance away but only broadcasts with an ERP of 100w, WNBV 88.1mhz. Those are the only two stations with close proximity to Grundy, VA. There are two other stations approx. 20 km away from Grundy but I doubt those two stations would cause what you're experiencing with your antenna disconnected.

I am exactly in the middle of grundy i can see the wmjd tower up above me the other one wnbv is right up the road from me to. but the signal that is causing my overload is 152.6825 it's the control channel for honaker in STARS the overload only happens when i am near that freqs anywhere else in the spectrum i'm fine.
