Thanks for checking out the app! My main goal was to be able to control the scanner from Android and do that well, then I thought others might like to do the same so I published it.
The most requested feature so far has been to add audio streaming, so I have been looking in to it. This week I created a version that includes audio streaming, but it is not my wheelhouse and I am not too thrilled about it so far. My first concern is the audio will never match the screen display because of buffering of the audio. That would happen with my app or anyone's streaming app, just because audio has to buffer a little to stream smoothly. If I am honest I am worried about the mountain of complaints about how the audio and the screen display are seconds apart.
Also I feel like the audio streaming I could do in my app would be far less optimized than an app that has a sole purpose of streaming audio. There are a lot of media apps out there that can stream from Broadcastify or your own private feed, and that is their focus so they will do it better. They will probably be better on battery usage and have features like EQ and more decoding options than I could ever hope to achieve.
So anyway, those are my excuses for not adding audio, but also I am working on it on the side. I might put it in if I am happy enough with how it works, but I want to stay true to my main goal, and that was to have a good app (the only app) that lets you control Freescan from Android and let the piles of streaming apps already on Android do that thing.
