Troy Public Safety Trunking System ?

Just making sure ... is the new Rensselaer County system listed in the DB as "Troy Public Safety Trunking System"? And there's only one site (with 10 antennas), or are there other frequencies in use that aren't listed?

Thanks!

They are totally different systems.
The Troy one is for Troy PD and some city agencies and schools.
A completely separate system is being built (not on the air yet) for the rest of the county.

New EMS Fire pagers Rensselaer Co.

Anyone else notice that Center Brunswick Fire Pages do not have any tones? Are they testing new pagers and if so what frequency are they using?

They might be simulselecting the voice on two frequencies, but the console only sends the tones out on one the pagers are on. (which would imply there is a second frequency involved).

Do you mean no tones on 46.10? There are no tones (except the console alert tones) on the MultiNet system.

If they are issuing digital pagers that get text pages, then they are probably on some totally different system. Most likely they are using PageMart or American Messaging or the like. It is also possible that the county is building its own digital paging system, but given the long-standing need to replace their trunked system, that seems pretty unlikely.

Dave,

Most of the county is using i am responding for the text notification of calls and other info, otherwise they use Verizon service to send alpha pages. Rensselaer Co will be utilizing one of the old sheriff frequencies when they migrate over to the p25 system. i know the ridge rd tower is up and ready for use.tassawassa tower is in the process of being finished. vhf paging is still a few months out if i hear anything i will post more details when they become available.

If they end up using either of the current analog sheriff channels, I hope they add some coverage first. The jail channel is hard to hear outside Troy and North Greenbush, and the dispatch channel is very weak in the Rensselaer area (and presumably further south as well).

Saw the following posted on the radio committee web site. Anyone have any updates on what frequencies will be used, control channels?

Zero reception in Rensselaer, very weak in Albany.

EDIT: What is the WACN on this system? I want to set up the DSDPlus files for it.

It appears to be the Moto default. I did not assume that Rensselaer County was using it, however, because the City of Troy is not.

Well, that's because Troy's system is Harris, not Motorola. Remember, it replaced an EDACS system, so they kept it in the family.

You know what they say about making assumptions. ;)

Some of the "new" P25 channels used to be EDACS-SCAT, so I am not making brand-based assumptions, either.
