Useful Tip

You must be connected to the internet when you open install-rtlsdr:

If you are not connected, two important files will be missing:

The biggest problem I had was with the Zadig driver. I also had some problems with V1906 because it's more complicated than V1732 that I usually use.

The new manual (SDR# Big Book in English v5.5) was helpful in setting up V1906, which the new manual is based on. You can download it on the Airspy site or here:
https://airspy.com/?ddownload=5928

I see V1909 is now available for download, but Norton keeps me from doing that because it's so new.

I was able to download v1909:

It wasn't necessary to uncheck Ignore Hubs and Composite Parents this time.

The driver had already been installed even though I had previously deleted it from the Device Manager.

Requiring a live connection, when you are using an installation file, is a serious misstep. If the distro decides to take that poorly chosen path, then it should be declared in the opening screen, with an option to abort the installation process.

It's not an installer. It's a batch file.Screenshot_20230131-121018_HexViewer.png

@rabbit108 :
A bit off topic: what are the 2 carriers above and below (about +- 150 kHz) the WFM transmitters at 89,5 and 90,3 MHz in your pictures?
I think it's a North American thing. I have a car receiver that decodes FM digital. I want to compare the audio from analog signal to the digital decoded signal.

Edit, sorry, i'm not rabbit, but i pick up those stations from my house, too. 89.5 has 3 or 4 or 5 subchannels encoded within the data stream.

Right, but it's a work around to use rtl device with software. I'd consider it more like a resource provided to ease applying a driver. Perfect, no, but it helps users. Rabbit found out the problem to (for) the OP.

This brings to light a bit about computers.... I know what a batch file is, you seem to know, but how many people just follow directions, and double click it? Not expecting an answer

Fair enough. Still should not need a live net connection for an install.
I agree; it's an extra step that is unusual. But the SDR# Download page does give a warning and page 25 of the new manual is quite specific about the internet connection:

It might be possible to add the downloaded files to the SDR# folder, but that is beyond my ability.
