I vote for Scan OKC, on a side note. I need the list of supplies that are needed for the data slicer. Crayon or Foster, do either of you have a list of supplies that I can use to see if we can use this back room (of RadioShack) for a meeting place?

OKC scan - slicer selection

The parts kind of depends on what type of slicers everyone wants to build. If they just want a simple one, it does not require much. If they want the LTR slicer (what Crayon was talking about - with a low-level pass filter), it will require quite a few more parts. I might build one this week and get a good parts list...we'll see what happens...

What does everyone want to build???

The difference is that the LTR slicer has a low pass filter one it, while the regular slicer does not. The LTR slicer filters out voice (the LTR data is sub-audible during transmissions). The motorola/edacs slicer is very easy to build and is a lot cheaper. You might be able to get some data off of LTR systems with it, but it does not work very well . I only have the regular MOT/ED slicer, and I think that's enough for me (although an LTR one would be nice - I'll get around to it one day).

As for a parts (for the simple one), we'll need One 741 IC (Op Amp), (2) 100K, (1) 10K, (1)0.1uF cap., (2) 10uF cap., (4)1N4148 or 1N914 diodes. Include a breadboard, female DB-9 serial connector, and audio connectors (for your discriminator tap), and you have a slicer!

Yeah, kinda of what I thought. That's why I'm looking forward to the group build/learn session sometime soon.

We'll get it figured out with you. I heard someone want to do it after all the holidays, but I also heard the date as the 24th (next tuesday) - it doesn't matter too much to me. Which date is it going to be??

I never heard anything back from anyone on the parts, people, ect. This week is leading up to HOT Friday (Day after Thanksgiving when we have everything really cheap for Christmas for a few hours) So I would say no to the room here at RS until after the holidays, it's being used almost every day for meetings, ect. Any other ideas / places?

I would say after Christmas for sure. (As i will have a new Pro-95 to mod for a data-slicer. :p ) Matthew, if you could see when would be a good time to use the Radio Shack conference room, that would be awesome.

Look forward to the next meeting!
