And that's my point entirely. Having a specific year guarantees absolutely nothing. You could have a 2021 with no issues and a 2022 with a hum or cold solder joint. It's a lottery.

The 100 is subject to hum? I thought that was just with the 200?

I’m referencing the 100 I purchased this week. I want one made in 2022 which will presumably have the new chip and board that required the new firmware from last June, and also has the cold solder joint fix, which was supposedly fixed in 2021. The 100 I got was made in 2021. I sent it back this afternoon. Doesn’t make any sense to me with the first quarter of 2023 almost in the books to settle for a unit that will be a year and a half old new that doesn’t have the revised components in it. I am perfectly happy with my 200 in the meantime.

Both my SDS100 & SDS200 are early production models, build date in 2018.

Never had the hum in the SDS200, and no symptoms of CSJ in the SDS100. But, of course, that's pure luck rather than any skill & control on my part.

I got mine in Jan 23 from HRO was “open box” so could have been in the store for demo for awhile.

I believe the new hardware was a manufacturing change due to component shortages, not an improvement in design or functionality.
Right, exactly, but why not get one with the new hardware, plus as previously stated in this thread and many others, the supposed cold solder joint issue was fixed prior to 2022. Still no guarantee of no problem, but I would rather take my chances on a newer unit than an old one.

Just because it was made in 2022 doesn't mean it isn't using 2020 parts. These are made overseas and frankly I wouldn't be surprised knock off copies of electronic parts just to get them moving again.
