I've just recently purchased a SDS100 and have spent all week trying to research my problem. I am listening to a Project 25 Phase I system.

I can pause/hold both the Pro-106/SDS100 on the same channel and the SDS100 misses a lot of the beginning of the transmission.

I've read the manual and the easier to read manual and read all the threads here talking about filters. I have tried that. I have tried attenuation. I have updated to latest software and database.

I really don't know what else to do but am disappointed really. I have also noticed the audio seems even with the Pro-106 with whoever is talking where as the SDS100 varies.

Am I missing something?

Welcome to the RR forums. A few things you'll want to check/do: #1 only listen to the site closest to you which carries the traffic you're interested in hearing; Site Hold. If you scan two or more sites you'll be bound to miss traffic or catch partial transmissions since the scanner has to do extra work scanning sites which may be out of range to you. #2 if #1 doesn't resolve the issue at hand, try experimenting with different filter settings or a lower digital waiting time. Lastly make sure close call and weather priority are turned off

@Whiskey3JMC thanks for the advise.

1)I have it all on hold so it's not scanning when it does this.

2)I have tried different filters.

3)I haven't tried the digital waiting time yet but will.

4)Close call and weather priority are off I forget to mention that originally.

I’m not sure digital wait time applies to P25 systems since it’s all digital to start with.

Looks like you can edit a site:

Digital Waiting Time (Motorola only) This setting gives the scanner time to determine if channels on Conventional Systems have digital or analog transmissions. During this time, the scanner will evaluate the received signal and, if it detects digital data, will open squelch immediately. If digital is not detected before the delay expires, the scanner will open squelch at the end of this delay. This is to prevent "false decode" problems. This setting only affects conventional channels with an Audio Type set to All.
The default setting is 400 ms.
0 to 1000
Note: Any analog transmissions will lose the first part of the transmission up to the wait time you set here.

That’s for Motorola 3600 systems only I believe.

@KevinC Yeah probably doubtful that will fix my problem. Looks like I'm back at trying to figure out why it doesn't work as good as my Pro-106. :(

Are you monitoring from within Troup County or from the location you gave in your profile (Villa Rica) which looks to be about an hour away?

Are you scanning multiple sites or just one? If multiple then holding on a TG will still scan all sites I believe.
I set temp avoids on all but one and held on one channel then listened to both radios. The SDS100 misses a lot of the beginning of conversations. It appears this is a known issue with this radio without a real fix.

I need to update that. I am listening in LaGrange which is in Troup County. The signal is strong. I can actually take the antenna off my Pro-106 and still get reception.

What programming software are you using for the PRO-106? Please attach your programming files for both scanners so that we can take a look at them. For the SDS100, click on the File tab in Sentinel and Export to hpe file (Favorites List). You will need to right click on both the PRO-106 file and the exported hpe favorites list file and Send to Compressed (zipped) folder to be able to attach them. Click on Attach files and open the zipped folder(s).

ARC500 for the Pro-106

I will get them and send them later. Thanks so much!

I could also take a video of them side by side if needed so you can see and hear.
