Use a WiFi to ethernet bridge... cheap and simple.

It's going to be very ugly, and cumbersome, to have an ethernet bridge sticking out of the front of the scanner.
If you have the scanner on a rack or desktop it's bad enough having a cable sticking out of the front.

You could also use something like this:
GL.iNet GL-MT300N-V2 Mini Travel Router

I have used a few of them with my Openspot. They do a fine job as an ethernet to wifi bridge.

Please don't interpret some of my comments as negative, just my personal preference. But I also wished Uniden would have chose SD memory cards rather than Micro SD. Micro SD cards themselves are pretty rugged, but I think their sockets are more fragile than SD card sockets. But I'm old school, I like the CompactFlash memory cards even better than the SD cards. :)

Remember these?

The SDS and the X36 share the same memory structure.

Yep. You can easily share profiles between the X36 and SDS scanners. Just remember that there will be some display differences
so you will want to make sure you select the correct target model before you make and write changes back to the scanner:

I still use a Canon XT DSLR so I share your love of old school CF cards! They can take a lot of abuse!

Interesting thread. (Reaches in pocket, produces 2 tarnished pennies.)

If I was Pharaoh I would have: added a built-in Wi-Fi module or at least preserved the USB connection ala 536 so those with 536 dongles could use them with the 200. Ditto for GPS and/or DB9 connector so those with GPS could use same.

That's IF I was Pharoah... but I'm not. And Cleopatra just issued a command to ditch the fantasy about ordering new equipment and go clear the snow from around the trash cans. (Returns 2 tarnished pennies to pocket and retrieves snow shovel.)

Will there be any plans to encapsulate serial commands/control over Ethernet if not already so?

*edit.... looks like it's already setup for that!

The problem is still that there are going to be two somewhat bulky connectors sticking out of the front of the scanner. Kind of ruins the aesthetics of an otherwise good looking radio.

Thanks Jeff at The Ham Station for the easy sale this morning ya'll make it easy to buy.
Does HamStation charge credit cards immediately, or when the product ships? Do they charge sales tax, or are they one of the holdouts?

Not to mention if you have big hands, the ethernet cable may make it harder than it needs to be to turn the squelch knob. At least they reversed the knobs from the 536. We shall see, won't know til we get our hands on one how annoying that will be.
