Neither of you posted a source, so we don't know who is correct.
@Ubbe is basing his incorrect assumption on the FCC Part 15 test report, which states that the Receiver Circuit Type for the SDS200 is "Heterodyne"

The problem with making that assumption is that he didn't compare the SDS200's test report to the SDS100's test report, which also lists "Heterodyne" as the Receiver Circuit Type.

Both scanners are designed around the same RafaelMicro R836 tuner chip, which is how they are able to implement I/Q sampling. Hence them both being branded "True I/Q" by Uniden.

Thank you for the informative post. Very helpful. Much more useful than the other "some of us might know" replies that others decided to post.

So is anyone testing the SDS200 in one of the known LSM strong holds like Phoenix or Philadelphia? I remember when the SDS100 came out and the reports from there.

Little late to this post but you can update the firmware of any Uniden database scanner on anything that you can download the firmware file and write to the SD card. I do most of my stuff on a Mac and update the firmware on the SDS200 and others within the Mac itself. I run Parallels to run Sentinel on the same box for database and Favorites List updates but for firmware updates you can get past that pretty easily.

Just copy the .bin file and paste it to the Firmware folder on the SD Card. This works on the SDS100/200, BCD436/536 and HP1/2.

So since you are in the PHX area is there any improvement in the LSM issues? Most likely not. Same as the SDS-100

The scanner has ftp access through the Ethernet port. Unauthenticated is read-only, but can read while scanning. Log in with password to be able to read and write (but that also will put the scanner in Mass Storage mode).
So does this allow for remote programming updates?
