A link was posted about the SDS 200 turned our it wasn't the scanner. As far as the 536, I was trying to say the display on the SDS 200 will be a big improvement. If we can't discuss the SDS 200 then close the thread

I decided to undelete this post.

You are correct, posts were made about a drain cleaner and those posts were deleted. As far as your display post I didn't delete that...so I'm not seeing what you have to complain about. No post about the SDS200 were deleted.

If you have any more moderation complaints this isn't the proper place to discuss them.

The FCC documents say it's a standard type receiver, probably a copy of the BCD536HP receiver, why reinvent the wheel, and not a sat-box receiver chip. So it will with high probablility be the exact same performer as a BCD536HP.

The SDS200 are not using a satellite box direct conversion receiver chip they use in the SDS100. It's using a heterodyne receiver like the one in BCD536HP which would guarantee a problem free VHF and UHF reception. The SDS100 where a test to see if a complete receiver in a chip could be used that had the same performance as most SDR USB sticks. And as with a USB stick you get different results depending of users location and unique listening enviroment. I do not expect Uniden to make that mistake again in a $500 scanner.

Incorrect, it uses the same chip as the SDS100

For us none Win/Mac users, since this has dedicated LAN I sure hope it has the ability to update the DB/FW directly without the use of a computer.

Little late to this post but you can update the firmware of any Uniden database scanner on anything that you can download the firmware file and write to the SD card. I do most of my stuff on a Mac and update the firmware on the SDS200 and others within the Mac itself. I run Parallels to run Sentinel on the same box for database and Favorites List updates but for firmware updates you can get past that pretty easily.

Just copy the .bin file and paste it to the Firmware folder on the SD Card. This works on the SDS100/200, BCD436/536 and HP1/2.

Well, if the chip in the 200 is the same as the 100 then we can presume it will have the same problems.

I personally don’t know what problem you’re referring to, I got an SDS100 from the second production run and it performs flawlessly, I couldn’t ask more as far as performance goes.

I assume you have read all the posts on here about people returning their 100s due to VHF problems, tinny noise, etc...

Because some experience issues doesn’t mean all radios are affected, some of these vhf issues could be regional issues, owners location, antenna type. Do you have these problems with your 100?

So you have NO first hand knowledge about the performance of the 100 but you’re will to post negative comments about something you have no first hand knowledge of? I see.

Go back and read again. I did not post a single negative comment. I simply stated that many people had problems with their 100 and I was concerned that the 200 could face similar problems. Do you think the people who claim to have problems with their 100 just made them up? Do you ever read reviews before purchasing a product? Any product?

The complaints people have made (I’ve seen them, too) were about VHF reception, not 800mhz P25 systems...but, I’m not where they are nor do I witness it with them so it is simply their word against someone else’s. Maybe they are being truthful, maybe they are exaggerating.
