What I want to know is...will this unit end up having the same issue with the time and date that the 436/536 does and that my HP2 developed where you end up having to reset it every single time you turn it on?
I own 1 436 and 3 536 scanners and I don't have to reset my time and date every time it's turned on. Mine has worked great for nearly 5 years. No problem with the SDS100 either. Looking forward to adding the SDS200 to my Shack Collection.

I suppose this might be one of those "We don't announce what we are going to do, until we are ready to do it" things, but I'd be most interested in a remote head or other means of remote control in a mobile/vehicle environment. Hopefully such may be on someone's radar.

Looks like the circuit board sits upside down in the top. I was hoping the audio recordings where timestamped now, but I guess not.
Any config possible to see if the scanner are tuned correctly to the frequency, a bargraph or a value that indicates +/- from the frequency? Then it would be easy to tune the scanner if it drifts away after some use.

With the federal government shutdown by your country's [president], I doubt the FCC website will be updated to release the documents any time soon. Is there a chance we might get to see a copy of the user manual posted here please? :)

Where do I put the Visa numbers? Sweet looking scanner radio! Will look good next to that brand new Whistler model coming out soon, and my IC8600! I wonder which scanner will actually hit the shelves first? Doesn't matter! Count me in for both! Looks like it's going to be a good year for the scanner radio hobby! My desk will soon host the Icom 8600, the Whistler TRX-200, and the Uniden SDS200. What joy!

Seeing how my year started off on a bad note and a big bang - New Years Day I had another heart attack and had to have heart surgery! - I'm glad to see more toys headed for my desk to keep me busy yes indeedy! Back home and resting and glad to be here! Happy New year to all! Sounds like it's going to be a good one!

Can someone post a video of the unit working a VHF or UHF analog system? Also try a marginal analog system as well as FM Broadcast band.

The FCC documents say it's a standard type receiver, probably a copy of the BCD536HP receiver, why reinvent the wheel, and not a sat-box receiver chip. So it will with high probablility be the exact same performer as a BCD536HP.

I am disappointed to see this new model. I would of liked to see a Home Patrol 3 version with the touch screen.

Hopefully the LAN port activity lights can be turned off through a setting or add the option in a future firmware update if possible

You can cover lights with black tape if its not an option.

I have a pdf, don't know if Paul has opened the wiki up to the public yet, seriously, 99% is same as SDS100.
PM - if you need a copy.

The lack of any mention of it having WiFi capability is disappointing. Frankly, that's one of the best features of the 536.

I'm also baffled by the idea of putting the USB A and Ethernet ports on the front of this thing, when there is a ton of empty space on the back panel.

Well, I'll probably be mounting this unit in my vehicle console... having access to the rear of the radio would require complete removal from the console. Yes, it is disappointing that it does not have WiFi or bluetooth for that matter.

I'll bet your wrong. My bet is its sds100 that hasn't been made to fit in a handheld or run on battery. Plus some nice i/o options.

I am curious about there being two power connectors on the rear panel. Is the barrel style for sending power to an accessory? (GPS puck?)

Yes, really. Not everyone has the desire or the means to run out and buy the latest and greatest the instant it becomes available. I had the 436 for 2 years before it developed the problem, which is ridiculous. I was merely asking if it's going to develop the same issue, which is a legitimate concern considering I have two Uniden scanners that have to be reset every time I turn the dang things on.

And before you say it, I'll beat you to the punch...I just won't buy anymore Uniden products. HAHAHAHAHA.
Send them in for repair. It is free you know?
