It's busier Monday - Friday, fairly active ever since Covid hit last spring, my total hits over the years have been 27,534

Thanks. My lack of an outdoor antenna may also be the reason for the few hits as I am using a nice Diamond but it's still just a rubber ducky that is inside my place. Hopefully, if we ever get warm wx again I will get something outdoors.

That is actually one of the busier channels on the Ohio County Site. I hear the J.O.C. on there every single weekday at some point, if not throughout the day..... Like BM82557 says, The ANG have been doing quite a bit of COVID missions as well as some recent missions to dig out tower sites from the snow and also with last week's flooding and swift water teams... Unless there is an active incident, that talkgroup is pretty quiet on weekends.
Also very active up here on this site are TGs 9502 and 9508..... 9502 is usually silent for days or weeks at a time, but then there are some days where that channel is so busy that not 2 minutes go by without a conversation. I think they were the ones delivering that vaccine helping to put WV way ahead of all other states in the first few weeks of the coronavirus vaccine rollout.
Having been the recipient of some tests administered by the ANG, that is what I suspected was happening. This discovery test was done during the week, which likely explains the low count. Thanks for the response.

Is there any confirmation of any agencies utilizing Phase II now? Also, with Phase II migration does this call for any type of reprogramming on the listeners end?

Once there are talkgroups with verified 100% TDMA activity, we would add them to the system (or modify them if they are already in the system) with the "T" digital mode for TDMA. The DB currently reflects all SIRN talkgroups as D (phase I digital). I don't recall if talkgroups in scanners have to be specifically tagged in the scanner as Phase I / II or not. Maybe it "just works" either way in a scanner as long as the scanner is capable of handling TDMA.

@n8jsw and @firemantom26 have seen some TDMA testing on some "private" fire talkgroups somewhere up in the NPH. They are collecting data and we will update those records in the DB when we are positive they are TDMA.

You might want to check with @n8jsw and @firemantom26 for now, as it will be a few days before anything gets changed in the DB for any talkgroups.

Could be false decodes. The algorithm ID is all over the place and is likely only going to be one of two possibilities, AES-256 or ADP/ARC4 which are IDs 84 and AA respectively.

I'm also getting talkgroups popping up ocasionally that are not in the SIRN list. I guess my radio is intermittently getting bad data. At least it's rare. 9 entries in a week of operation. I'm using RTL-SDR.COM V3 R820T2 RTL2832U dongles. What SDR's are you using? I may need to get something a little better.

Here are the talkgroups that are present in my logs but not in the SIRN database on RR. I downloaded a fresh copy of the RR data tonight to use for the comparison.

I am running a Airspy R2 SDR.

Anybody out there monitor the DMR/Mototrbo? I seen a bunch of Weirton PD vehicles at Lautumas getting radios replaced? Wondering if there using it yet or not.

I have not heard nothing on Lautumas or SIRN from Weirton PD. That’s the million dollar question as far as which system they are going to drink the Kool-Aid

They bit the bullet on the DMR. Anytime now they will be switching.
I will still need to either see something official in writing or monitor them personally using DMR to believe they would do something so stupid. New SIRN P25 towers built in PA and Weirton to cover the panhandle with another possibly on the way near East Liverpool. Brooke County moving to SIRN, P25 is _the_interoperability standard, and Weirton dismisses all of that and goes to a non-public safety DMR system? It defies logic. The current VHF repeater serves Weirton just fine, the only thing that would make limited sense is if they converted that repeater to DMR. No reason or benefit to go to the Lauttamus DMR trunking system given all the other variables.
