The Ohio County simulcast is acting up yet again... 1/2 mile from Wheeling Tower site and receiving no signal.
(This is third time this has recently happened, every time happening on a Friday afternoon.)

(and 10 minutes after I post, it comes back up)

Maybe it's down? Maybe the control channel has changed? Did you manually ccheck every frequency assigned to that site and see if there is a P25 control channel on one of them?

My bad, I guess I shouldn't have said "no signal" because that was never actually the case....
For a couple hours earlier the signal would alternate between 100% and so poor that no scanner could lock on to the CC... This happened a few times and each time the site's status would change it would remain in that condition for several minutes...
There was definitely either a problem or someone was working on something causing this to happen... By about 5:00 the alternating fluctuations in signal had ceased and the site appeared to be back to normal...

Are you still using those GRE/WHistler/RS scanners? Or did you finally put a Uniden SDS into use? If you were using a Uniden SDS, you shouldn't have had an issue. If you are using anything else, you should have expected issues all along and simply have been lucky lol.

Yep, still using them... I have zero issue with simulcast distortion at my residence and the GRE/Whistler has superior audio compared to Uniden digital, and at the moment dont need phase II... But mostly, it's that I'm not radio smart like you guys... I found that I am too dumb to figure out how to program and operate the SDS without taking a damn class... (in fact i still dont even know how to properly operate the functions of the PSR-500 et al)
Regardless of that, I did try my SDS-100 radio today and it too would not pick up the control channel during the signal issues (I had it programmed by zip code and it annoyingly cycles through a mountain of useless "nationwide frequencies" and other systems so it generally sits unused).

@Mylan Did Ohio County/Wheeling tower problem get resolved?
--sorry just seeing this--
Yeah, ever since the Ohio County site resumed normalcy last friday evening, I have not noticed any wavering of the signal and all my radios are receiving the CC at 99% and properly decoding.
What I was experiencing at the time last friday was the exact same condition that occurred on both Aug 14 and Aug 28 when (according to user "bswfd9") "they had a T1 line go down". however, on those two prior occasions, once the line went down it stayed down until it was fixed whereas this past friday the signal would come and go several times between 1 and 5 pm leading me to believe that the issue may have been the result of active site maintenance.

New (pending) license for a trunked site in Fairview WV (Monongalia) -- DIFFERENT location than the current site 1-006

It's either going to be a replacement site for 1-006, or they are going to perhaps turn Fairview into a simulcast cell.

453.6875
460.2375
460.375
460.575

Location: 39°37'23.6"N 80°18'12.7"W

This link explains it: ULS Application - Public Safety Pool, Trunked - 0009329274 - West Virginia Division of Emergency Management - Administration

NOTE: Catherine's tower is the current Fairview site in the DB. Interestingly, according to the link below, Fairview is not online (tower has been dismantled and a new one is being built int he same place). In the meantime they need some temporary coverage (thus this new license) and are putting a temporary site (the one on this license) up on a Utility Co tower in the interim so that Fairview can be back online while the new tower is being built at the Catherine's tower.

Well Ohio County Simulcast (at least here in Wheeling) is experiencing that signal loss issue again.. It was up 15 minutes ago but I just noticed it is now all messed up.

It also happened this past tuesday from exactly 1 pm to exactly 4:30 pm...

Anyone around that can check their signal with the site?

Thx.... That must mean all these problems of late are related to a problem specifically with the Bethlehem tower... I'm still not getting anything reliable at a location near the OVMC campus.. (including on the SDS-100)... Signal strength here is rapidly fluctuating between nothing and 94%...
And it appears the Wheeling feed is experiencing the same issue as well although the SIRN users are having no apparent communication problem that I can tell...... Well I'm hopeful they will fix it again in the morning...

Anyone else in Berkeley Co. notice today that Sheriff's Office dispatch seems to be on TG 1141 and 99% encrypted?

If they have in fact started to encrypt dispatch, then it goes against the agreement to be on the SIRN.

Tac 1 TG 1141 has been ENC since 12:03pm today

Has anyone up Brooke County way heard anything about who is about to switch to SIRN? I see where over 100 new sequential radios came online today and more are still showing up... radio #'s start with 222400 and as of 3:30 they're now up to 222519... These rid's are not close to any other radios currently in service for the county...
