• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

So, is the BKR9000 really vapourware?

I was told pricing was close to the BKR5000. With each additional band being about 500 dollars each. 3k would be pretty accurate. It’s a lot cheaper than other similar radios still. Plus the automatic 5 year warranty. You can’t beat that.

Should still be in the additional parameters. Checkbox should be on the bottom of the pane.

I see it now but it's already checked and grayed out.

Ok, this is strange. I SWEAR I was unable to change the System ID and many other parameters yesterday at work but now at home just now I can edit it.

So, essentially you can create anything you want but to actually register on a system you need the key to uncheck the RX only box. Smart and logical. Again, I'm REALLY liking this so far. If the demo unit lives up to the hype then I can see the APX8000 going away for funds for an all band one of these.

I agree. The radio cost is a bit less than Harris, but additional bands are pretty close to the same.
Looking forward to seeing the mobile offering and more details.

Once you click RX only there is no going back. If you mess up it’s easy to delete and build a new system.

I haven’t been home to check the latest version of RES.

Seems like a nice radio, but I'd still be a little skeptical with investing thousands (or more) on a product that took years to actually produce even before Covid and supply issues. I get that they want to play in the sand box like the big guys, but.... Plus the fact they can't get the FCC ID correct? What is their product support going to be like when a issue arises and a firmware update or hardware change needs to happen literally overnight? I may dis on mother M any chance I get, but there is a reason why people drink their Koolaid. Please don't take this post as being a Debbie Downer... I hope they kick M's A**!!

I do know customer service is top notch. They are small maybe 1/15 of the big guys. Everything is done in-house in Florida.

I have been on a teleconference with software and hardware engineers before going over little issues.

The big thing is they listen to your concerns

I’m sure the FCC issue will get resolved. They data is based off the original 2019 radio. I’m sure it will be eventually updated to reflect the new design.

All the dealers were on a live YouTube introduction the other day. No fan fair, just, here's the radio. IF we want to sell the radio, we MUST take a class in how to sell and work the radio, take a 50 question test and pass with 70%.....(I thought I was done with school) and then we can become CERTIFIED RESELLERS. And then and only then can we find out the pricing. So....no, I have no pricing.

This is going to become the new norm for dealers of many brands. Icom is doing the same thing for all their P25 Gen 2 radio's and other products. They don't want idiots who live in mom's basement doing internet sales and pushing product they know nothing about (and I can't say as I blame them), on the flip side it's also a good way to "purge" existing less than desirable small dealers.

So, probably changing the title to "BKR-9000 ISN'T vaporware" would be in order.

Yeah, ran across a few of these dealers over the years, and can't blame BK for doing this. Too many people selling stuff they cannot support/don't understand.

Rick,
So, when do they have the classes/test scheduled for?

Thanks,

Sounds like the one we had out here. Last i heard he had got out of it. Owes bk relm hundreds of thousands. They won't let the other guy get it locally. Keep in mind the next guy is one of them lives in moms house and on a vfd while momma is the county manager which oddly wrote herself in as a head of a new psap which she isn't qualified to be. But you can see why she took the in-house comm stuff away she gots plans for sunny at home but I heard he's as dumb as a load of bricks so I'm glad bk requires these tests on resellers.

BKR9000 Update

BK did introduce the new BKR9000 this past week during a certified dealer class. Only dealerships who have gone through the certified class and pass a required test will be authorized to sell the BKR9000.

Just some cool features/items about the BKR9000:

1. You can place orders now for the radio through a dealership who has been certified to sell the radio.
2. Per BK, dealerships are not allowed to post pricing online or have a "click to buy now option" online.
3. Expected ship dates for orders placed is around December. Certified dealers will get there ordered demos first.
4. Some cool features of the radio:
*You can add options as you go. Say you only want 800mhz now, and then want to add UHF and/or VHF later on, you can.
*You will utilize RES to program the radio
*Cloning: "Uses same cloning techniques as the KNG series radios". Requires KAA701 and BKR0701 or BKR0700.
*Battery Chargers: BK offers a 6 bay, 2 Bay and single bay charger.
*New and improved Microphone

Thanks!
