I am told by a fire chief that transition of users from the old Stark County system to the simulcast is being delayed by furniture. A couple of the dispatch centers are awaiting delivery of tables and chairs so the new dispatch consoles can be set up. Alliance and Minerva are ready to go and we should see those departments transition by Thanksgiving.
So far, the only regular users based in Stark County on the Simulcast that I am aware of are:
North Canton FD
North Canton PD
American EMS
EMT Ambulance
Indian River
OSP
ODOT
I also hear Portage and Wayne County often too...

I can confirm that. The sheriffs dispatch room is being remodeled. They are still doing architectural planning and needs some electrical work. They won’t be set up for a good month to go live. The new agencies they’ve picked up are planning to switch over the last week of the year.
Canton city is also moving into a different building for dispatch. They are shooting for the first of the year to go live.
January 1 should see most of the system in use across the county.
Any definite word on encryption?
Stark County's old system has many TG's that have encryption. When they move to MARCS I hope they are in the clear with the option to go encryption when needed....
Mike, is there a link to each county in Ohio like the one you included here through google maps?
If so, can you tell me how to access them?
How about Medina, Summit and Wayne?
I've seen the final fleetmaps and all the primary dispatch TGs are in the clear, including PD. Remember, this isn't just a Stark Co. system anymore and MARCS is calling the shots. Canton PD was originally encrypted when they had their own system before it merged with the county's system, so it was left alone. From what I know Canton PD dispatch should be in the clear. There are plenty of TGs with encryption like SO's Inquiry.

Actually, MARCS doesn't have much to say about encryption. Their position is that encryption (some, all or none) is up to the user agency.
From an interoperability standpoint, it doesn't make much sense to encrypt dispatch, but it's left up to each agency.
