True, they are allowed to be encrypted. I never said they were not allowed to choose encryption, however they are able to persuade them not to choose encryption on normal dispatch. I do know that both representatives from MARCS and the person spearheading this for Stark County has been pushing forcefully for all dispatch to be in the clear. My point being, this isn't Canton's system anymore and they gave up bargaining chips.

Hello fellow scannerist,
I have been hearing comms on the Stark county system on TG 19216, it is marked as FD Disaster. I have heard regular comms on it several times and tonight I was sitting in front of my computer and able to look up street names with the associated chatter. It appears this is Minerva FD, I was wondering if this is correct and are they going to be using this TG full time. I have not heard any dispatching of units just en route and such.

According to Motorola they think that it should be status quo on the encryption. So Canton may very well be encrypted on Marc’s. They’re not really sure though. The Sheriffs furniture/remodel is running late. Sounds like they’re setting up stations temporarily and will setup for good sometime in February.

Unidentified so far:

45032
45033
45071
45125 - Possibly Sandy Creek Fire District
45160
45163
45168
45185
45196

I concur with you about 45125 being SCJFD. A buddy of mine from E Rochester (who is on these forums) has monitored it frequently. He mentioned one call over on Lowmiller Rd in West Twp.

SCJFD Chief texted me Wednesday and said they made the switch but he did not know the talkgroup number. I have yet to catch them on a call to verify. They will have 3 talkgroups: SCJFD 1, SCJFD 2, and FD/PD

By far, 45125 is the most active of the "new" talkgroups that might be SCJFD.

Radio IDs on the following talkgroups (thus far) all begin with 76101## :

45123
45125
45126
45179

We already know TG 45125 is an SCJFD talkgroup. So it's a pretty good bet that SCJFD 1, SCJFD2 and FD/PD are three of those four.

45125 definitely has "MEDIC 1" and "CHIEF" or "CHIEF 1" on it. They were called out this morning.

45123 was called to drug mart and might be Minerva PD.

Here are my unknowns. If the number next to the talkgroup is non-zero, then there was an actual keyup. If the number is 0, it means a radio affiliated with the talkgroup but there was no keyup.

I am told that Stark County SO has been doing a lot of testing, so my money is on 45160 as their dispatch

That would make sense to me. They were doing the same sort of testing last week on 45160 that they were doing on the XMARCS talkgroups when it first came online -- going around testing coverage in various areas. I only listened on rare occasions so I didn't pin down the agency. But it makes sense that it would be Stark Co SO. I'll tag that one with an alert and try to pay closer attention to it when they talk.

Thanks

Mike
