O/T: I'm going off the grid into the mountains for a week so response time to submissions will increase, or hold them until next weekend.

When we say “switchover” does that mean just the FD, all Public Safety, or everything? DDOT in Sussex is still heavily represented on the SmartZone site.

Also it seems many of the Denials are DSP resources that have been Denied since June 7th.
FD was told the 21st

DDOT / DTC and other agency tgs are beginning to show up on the Sussex site - busy locking them out.

So I was able to drive up to Hockessin and spend about 30-45 minutes monitoring the 01-17 (P25) / Site 7 (Mot SZ2) antenna site.

Absolutely no traffic populating on the Site 7 system. It's broadcasting, but there's nothing using it.

The P25 site (01-17) has a little bit of traffic coming across it. However, as I was leaving I noted that I lost the P25 site when I was about 1.5 miles away. I suspect that for testing or configuration they might be running it in a low power mode? Either way, here is data from UniTrunker and SDR Trunk on the 01-17 site. I noticed it also shows duplicated frequencies from Site 7, so I suspect that all of the Site 7 frequencies will be moved onto 01-17 after the cutover.

I've made a submission on this info.

Still a significant amount of FD traffic on the legacy SmartZone site in Sussex. The Ocean City Fire Department does not have the Sussex Fire / EMS tgs programmed into its radios; that will occur in stages as the radios need to be physically touched - no compatible OTAP / WifI programming option with our Harris radios. My understanding is the OC radio people had requested the programming info several times so they could be ready for the switchover, but the people in Smyrna didn't respond in a timely manner - probably had their hands full. The police are a different matter since Delaware decided to go forward with a proprietary / non-P25 compliant encryption solution that is not compatible with Harris radios. I thought that once the police moved to the new system that they would transition to P25 AES, but apparently this is not the case. I'll try to clarify the situation.

Not sure if anybody would want to put this in the wiki or if any other listeners have any input to add on the topic, but below is the list of DE state parks and the channels that I'm pretty sure they use for park ops. Most of this has been confirmed thru monitoring. I have not seen a talkgroup for First State active on the new system, but there is a talkgroup listed for that park on the old system.

Could someone in range of Sussex share a recent unitrunker run or active P2 frequencies in the rotation? Paste a pic?

Wilmington FD was heard on NCC Fire TAC-5 this morning. Could Wilmington be close to testing and/or operating on the NCC Simulcast?

So for those late to the party does this upgrade mean the Uniden bcd325p2 will be useless due to simulcast?

Everyone's RF environment is different. If you're suffering the effects of simulcast distortion then you're likely within range of two or more towers. Try the multipath mitigation suggestions in this wiki. If you find one that works for you then great. If not then consider upgrading to an SDS100

Thanks for the reply, I sold my SDS 100 a while back because the 325p2 was sufficient for this area, and now here we are lol, can't win.

So, I have been listening to this system on my G5 for the past few months. I listen mainly to New Castle County and have not had any problems. However, this weekend I have been in Sussex County and it's constantly "out of range". It does sometimes connect to Site 13 and I hear traffic fine, but 9 times out of 10 I am out of range while inside the county. Is it possible there is a control channel frequency not listed in the database that the Sussex site is using? I can't think of any other reason why one county would be out of range but New Castle and Kent have no issues.

Nope it’s always been on 853.350. Also the RRDB is showing all channels as control channels, but there are only 4 possible on Motorola systems. For Sussex, they would be 851.100, 853.1125, 853.350 (current), and 853.5875. The last one is the current SmartZone system control channel, thus it will not be assigned until the SZ system goes dark or rolls to another channel.

I would check your programming to make sure only Sussex control channels are programmed for site 13 - I know that some people have programmed multiple sites' control channels into one knob position and that could lead to problems like you are experiencing.

So a little updated observation:

When I got about a mile away from where I was staying (near Indian Mission Rd & John J Williams Hwy) I would pick the signal up fine. It was just when I was at the house I was staying in that I would be out of range.
I suppose it’s just a dead spot at that location 🤷‍♂️
