He just posted 32 minutes ago and you are already asking questions. Be patient and when people know and post then you will know.
Knowing how these systems are built and brought online I would say still a year or more away. If they plan to make the system hot statewide all at the sametime. Plus you still have to install 1100 mobile units

Many of the KSP troopers have APX 8500's They use the UHF P25 now they would just have to drop the codeplugs in for 7/8 but there are a lot of XTL's out there too

I understand but building a statewide system linking all the sites and programming all the cars and setting up 1100 walkies is still not going to happen in a short time. TACN took several years to span from Bristol to Memphis and it was done in Phases. We have not heard if KSP System is going to be done in Phases or Statewide all in 1 shot switch.

I'm an old enough codger to have seen KSP go through a couple of radio system make-overs. Low band VHF to Analog UHF, the Analog UHF to Digital UHF.

They did it in phases, typically one post at a time, over a period of years.

If someone who really knows was to post something that says they have been installing multi-band radios (VHF/UHF/700-800) in their cruisers as they are replaced, I wouldn't challenge the accuracy. If nothing else for mutual aid purposes.

Same here in Louisiana . They did LSP first then they worked on getting the Parishes set up, they started in 2005 and 17 years later the Parish I live has finally ditched their analog UHF system and is coming on line with the LWIN system. Takes a while for BOUDREAUX ( pronounced Boo- dro and TIBODO ) THIBODEAUX to wake up and come to w 21st century.

Hears some techs testing on the Union county channels last week, their volume was so low, I thought they were whispering, as a matter of fact, if I didn't have alerts set up to go off on the KSP system when it was keyed, I would have missed it completely.

Folks, we have a long while before this system is live, that's what I was told. Nobody is fully sure about the big "E" (Soapbox mode on) but by the time its active, I'm sure the arguments for it will far outweigh those against it here and with the state of crime the way it is, I'm sure we know which way the vote will go (Soapbox mode off)

I wish it would just come online around Lexington and Winchester and Richmond.and you never know about them switching to LTE I seen where phase 3 p25 they are already working on will have LTE built into the system and look at Europe switching from tetra to ESN LTE system

Be careful what you wish for, 'cause you just might get it. I'm very concerned that encryption is coming with the new system. So for my own listening desires, I'm good with dragging this out.

Just getting Louisville Metro - one county with 13 sites - on a trunked 800 system, was at least a 6 year ordeal.

In that case, I'm okay with it taking 10-20 years lol. I enjoy listening to KSP so much.
