The system will come online when Motorola and KSP Radio Techs make it into Central Kentucky Deployment. Currently, Post 1 & 2 are being deployed and tested before the rest of the state gets switched over.

You may not realize just how much coordination, time, and money go into just one site on this system. To deploy statewide, it’s going to take sometime.

Rest assured once sites in the Lexington Metro Area go live, this thread will be updated.

This still applies, just read "Richmond" where it says "Lexington Metro Area".

I have an idea for you do not act like the 5 year old going on vacation to Disney for the 1st time that keeps asking are we there yet lookup the sites at the FCC Database program them in your scanner and when you hear radio traffic on them you will know they are there. They are like still 300 miles from you They have been working Districts 1 2 & 3 for the last year.

Maybe this has been discussed before, but i missed it if it was. Is it possible for the states new radio system to incorporate the existing trunked systems throughout the state into it without completely taking “control” of them? My thinking is that the Lexington, Louisville, N. KY, etc.. areas all have the sites that provide decent coverage for those area & seems like a waste for the state to partially duplicate it.

And would make their systems very very busy to Simulcast all the state talkgroups on their and they would have to update their systems and all their radios to phase 2 systems to be compatible with the state that would cost Lexington and Louisville a lot of money to buy new cores and radios and dispatch consoles

I'm sure it's been discussed and yes it's possible to integrate them. But the reality of the situation is not every agency want's to give up their current system, buy/integrate into the new statewide radio system, or just work with KSP and Motorola in general.

Georgetown/Scott County, Madison County, and University of Kentucky are finally integrating their three Harris P25 systems into a single regional network (Bluegrass Regional Radio Network aka BRRN). I doubt you'll see LFUCG integrate with the BRRN system let alone KSP.

There have been talks of a regional UHF P25 system in Eastern Kentucky with a few counties that are apart of the Gateway Area Development District.

I'm sure @ofd8001 can speak to the politics and issues of integrating MetroSafe to the new Statewide system.

I can see a willingness for MetroSafe to discuss some degree of cooperation. It would certainly extend MetroSafe's reach for things like pursuits. Quite possibly add some more resources for MetroSafe. "Way back when", I saw a MetroSafe Fleetmap that had a large number of talkgroup IDs set aside for state government. So state participation on MetroSafe has been contemplated from the beginning.

Another interesting thing is the individual having a big role in getting MetroSafe off the ground has retired and is now working for KSP on their system.

MetroSafe has sites in Oldham, Shelby and Bullitt Counties, but resources (as in voice frequencies) that they were pretty "choosy" on which talkgroups are carried on those sites. So if there was that "cooperation", there would potentially be some benefit for MetroSafe.

And clearly it would benefit the state as they wouldn't need to do major infrastructure in Jefferson, Bullitt, Oldham and Shelby counties other than add some voice channels.

I'd rather doubt that state talkgroups on the MetroSafe system would drain resources too bad, provided that a user is in Jefferson County to affiliate with the system. No reason for KSP Post 1 talkgroups to be active if there are no Post 1 units in the area. (I doubt if any other state system pushes all talkgroups on all sites, all the time.)

And then there's the obvious value where the left hand can communicate with the right on those things like pursuits.

Construction notifications had been filed for all of the sites below. The ones with an asterisk (*) are not in the DB yet. Somebody in those areas may want to try and check to see if those sites are online. The last time the DB was updated with any new sites was in January.
