Airlines operate 24/7/365 - believe me I have 40 plus years of experience knowing about AOGs on holidays. AOG (Aircraft On Ground)
Well at least on American Airlines cabin staff get time and a half and triple time if they make all the Holiday periods.
The pilots turned it down though.
American adds pay incentives to avoid holiday staffing woes (thepointsguy.com)

Glad to see that Webb telescope made it off the ground today.. 30 years in the making.
At cost of 10 billion dollars with US,Euro and Canada combined on this one hope it works!

Thanks René as RCH4552 C-17 #94-0065 now departing Langley going home to Memphis as saw it going into San Juan yesterday.
Maybe in support picking up the gear?

Yes, you were right Mark. CUBE 21 departed from Muñiz Air National Guard Base (TJSJ) around 1545z and joined with
BOBBY 71 in San Juan airspace. They were working center on 307.000, but LiveATC only carries their VHF frequencies.

Never heard their type of aircraft, but F-15s seems most logical. They were on altitude reservation Coronet South 808.

Confirmed was the Fresno F-15's who are TDY at Langley till early next year.
NORAD exercise Falcon Hawk. Funny there was talk of Potus going down there this week and these guys were there.
Nice low unrestricted burner departure. Had extra triple ER fuel tanks as well which they use in CAP around here.

Hi, good evening,

CUBE 21 and 22 arriving at Langley AFB from Puerto Rico: CS808

I found them also on their departure on the 21st of December, but after their check-in with Norfolk departure on 360.600
I lost them and couldn't find them on any Washington center frequencies anymore. Their routing was most likely via
ECG - OHPEA - TOMMZ and then going Oceanic and joining up with their tanker BOBBY 71.

Does anyone have an idea which frequencies they could have been working on, I tried Washington 124.025 / 269.150
and New York Oceanic 133.500, but haven't found them on those .... thanks for your help.

For New York Center I would try

RCAG Sites - NC

Manteo, NC - RCAG

126.02500 Sector 82 KATHY Oceanic

Wilmington, NC - RCAG

133.52500 Sector 83 HANRI Oceanic

Yeah last Tuesday BOBBY-71 came almost due East from Memphis over the Outer Banks NC.
then turned SE and shortly dodging wx went way oceanic as you can see from tracking.
On way back Tuesday you can see on flightaware also coming off ocean and BOBBY-71 must have cut them loose offshore Central Florida.
Manteo NC as Terry posted seems like good place to start.

Saw SAM-977 GLF-5 11-0550 headed NW bound from Andrews earlier today and now back into Andrews.
Quick trip.. Blank mode s area as well.

SAM 923 went down to somewhere in the Caribbean, possibly San Juan, and back earlier today. For much of the flight that was visible on ADS-B Exchange the ident was displayed as XA923. XA is one of the FAA Privacy ICAO Identifier (PIA) callsigns, usually ROCKFISH on the radio. The track seemed to disappear and reappear in the vicinity of the Miami Oceanic Flight Information Region boundary.

SAM 923 transmitted this C-band position report with both XA923 and SAM923 identifiers at 1549Z:

AES:AE6961 GES: D0 2 ..81942 ! H1 9 FLIGHT XA923
A41AXA0923#M1B/B0 KZMA.AFN/FMHSAM923,..81942,,154815/FPON25197W071059,1/FCOADS,

XA callsigns appears with US - Australian - New Zealand and Netherlands Air Force flights as well. Primarily larger aircraft types.
They always appear to match the SAM or other mil callsign numbers. This may have something to do with blocking the flight in the FAA system.
So as SAM it tracks - when they id as XA - it blocks in the system. Maybe an on off switch.

And, I believe the XA/XAA ident is only recognized on ADS-B/Mode S in U.S. airspace. Overseas, the SAM or MC prefix seems to appear in the ident block on ADS-B and ADS-C/CPDLC transmissions.

I think you're right, it helps conceal the secret Christmas fact-finding mission to the islands. ;)
