UGLY WG A-10's on way into WG from South with ZDC Kenton 354.1500 pushes 286.000 Philly appch but no joy so back to ZDC then the usual Philly freqs 269.250>323.100>291.700.
That 286.000 Philly could have been misread by them or ZDC or just not active.
I'l add that one anyhow for future ref as possible Philly appch freq.

If anyone is interested.

Today, around 12 noon, the Thunderbirds did 2 high speed low altitude passes down the Mall (DC) and one high speed down the river. It was the 6 ship formation with a 7th trailer to the rear left.

Hopefully I will get treated to the Angels on Thursday!

Also, in case anyone is interested, the DC-ANG had one of their F-16's on static display during the airshow. On the side was embossed "Sgt Theresa Carroll."

Mark, I believe that 286.0 freq is an old one that's not used anymore. The controller at ZDC-Kenton always sends them to that freq (I'm sure that's what his computer is showing him for a handoff freq so he just reads it off.) However, I've heard them countless times come back to Kenton and ask for another freq after being sent to that one. One time, the WG A-10 told his wingman that "they always send us to that freq and no one ever answers."

Something has changed at BWI today. Everything taking off is making a turn to the east immediately and flying over my house which they never do. It has been a constant source of noise today. I'm not sure if it's runway 28 or 33 they're using but at a few hundred feet they're banking to the east. There was also an F-16 that took off from BWI about an hour ago. I was working outside (NORDO) so have no idea who it was. It was neat watching it climb out though - something I never get to see from BWI. I enjoyed the noise from that one.

I almost forgot to mention...there were two Egyptian Air Force C-130Hs in the area today. Around 0900 was EGY 1109, tail 1293/SU-BKS and then around 1100 was EGY 1112, tail 1286/SU-BAS. I guess they were Andrews or Dulles flights.
The Belgian Air Force 622 (A-310, tail CA-01, 21 Squadron) was in the area again too shortly after noon. (He was BAF 623 yesterday.)
And a Brazilian Air Force C-130, tail FAB2466 was here also around noon.
One more...another Egyptian Air force aircraft - a Gulfstream IV-SP, tail SU-BPF came through around 1530.

PAT-54 to Bluegrass -over flying the area 241.0
REACH-21T heading into Quantico.

A few minutes prior I heard someone on 379.05. He relayed that he'll need 18k of fuel and that the paratroop door had a broken cable. I heard what I thought may have been a callsign, sounded like MANITOU-5. ???

A couple pics of Marine Corp aircraft at Andrews last weekend.
I'm not that familiar with Marine Corp aircraft especially the bottom aircraft.
C-21? UC-35? C-20?
Any ideas?

Top one of course is an EA-6B from VMAQ-4 MCAS Cherry Point and the bottom one is a UC-35D from VMR-2 (full BuNo is 166767 on that one) I hear the UC-35D almost every day going into Andrews - "Marine 767"

I'm not sure of the home base of the UC-35D. Scramble says Miramar for VMR-2 but the tail code VM shows as Beaufort on the tail code list I've been using and NAF Washington (Andrews) on another tail code list.

Ref below: The site you posted looks great Mark. Thank you.

Ref below below: Thanks tony. SU-BAR sounds like an energy bar or a contestant on American Idol...not to be confused with FUBAR.

OK thanks Tin! I found the following web site for Navy Marine tail codes updated as of April 2007 according to them.
Some useful info here and is best list I have ever seen for Navy/Marine tail codes.

http://www.aerospaceweb.org/question/history/q0301.shtml

Mark

I didn't know that Atlantic FA/18 squadrons start with A code and Pacific squadrons start with N.
Learn something new every day here!

Re: Egyptian AF C-130s

Hi Alan,

From a posting on another list, SU-BAS was operating out of BWI. SU-BAR brought in a engine for SU-BAS on the 21st.

Best regards,

Tony

I don't know Marine stuff (or anything else, really) all that well, but the logo just aft of the door is for the 4th MAW, so make of that as you will. I can cough up a picture if you want, as well.

That's DC-ANG working that freq Dan. WILD/SCARY flights were up in W-107 -- 139.15/143.6 interflight freqs. On their way home now.

There was also a FLYER flight of A-10s from Willow Grove at Pax working 143.25 interflight and they too are on the way home....through ZDC-Kenton 354.15 and now over to Phil. TRACON 269.25

There's a CAP up over Groton CT being manned by Raptors from Langley. Using RAPTOR for a callsign with HUNTRESS on 260.9.

One last item for now....REACH 7037 (C-5B, 87-0037, 337th AS Westover) talks to TORCH Control (108th ARW Wing Ops) on 303.0 to coordinate refueling in AR-600X with TOPCAT 02 (KC-135E, 108th ARW McGuire AFB). Mentions that he's REACH 7037 for this flight and not RODD 22 (Westover training callsign for local work) and that the refueling will be from Raleigh-Durham to Franklin to Snow Hill so that's where AR-600X is located - at least for this refueling operation.

The last C-17s

Some info that might come in handy... Most of the last C-17s will go to Dover, including: 07-7169, 70, 71, 73, 75, 76, 77, 78 & 79. The very last one (80) will go to McChord though.
