I did hear some activity from Brunswick NAS. Callsigns heard were TIGER-21
Travis, I logged a couple of FIGHTING TIGER P-3s from Brunswick NAS last week that came down to the W-386 area to work with Giant Killer. I had an email from someone close to Brunswick who told me their P-3s use both that callsign and just plain old TIGER most of the time. So, that was probably who you heard if he was correct.
1802: Refueling activity on AR-636 primary freq 238.9
1800-1845: There has been activity down in area W-122 with Giant Killer on 251.6 but it's just too weak from here to copy
1849: REACH 7039 calling ???? Dispatch on 372.2. He wants to check NOTAMs for KNGU (Chambers Field, Norfolk)
1849: DC 23 (KC-135R 756th ARS Andrews) with Andrews on 378.1 and tells someone to change to 266.4
1850: DC 23 and DC 21 make contact on 266.4 (All they did was establish comms and nothing more.)
1852: REACH 7039 tells the ground station to read all the NOTAMs for KNGU and he'll pick out the ones he needs. (Ground probably didn't want to read all of them since there are a whole bunch about GPS service being out for various times. Every military base has the same group of NOTAMs that read like this one for KNGU....
GPS NON-PRECISION APPROACH MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE 05 OCT 06:50 UNTIL 05 OCT 07:51....They are for various times on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of October for all bases.)
1858: ROMAN 09 (F/A-18C VFA-106, NAS Oceana) with ZDC-Calvert 281.4
1859: ROMAN 09 handed off to ZDC-Bay 379.3 where he tries several times to check in at FL 250 before making contact.
1901: ROMAN 09 (now female voice) trying to make contact with ZDC-Bay on 379.3
1902: ROMAN 09 (male again) reports speed 310 knots. «379.3»
1908: ROMAN 09 handed off to ZDC-Woodstown 363.0 where he checks in at FL 250.
1914: ROMAN 09 told to descend to FL 200. «363.0»
1920: ROMAN 09 says he'll take a Victor freq for the handoff and is given 127.3. (Won't follow him there.)
1929: BATON 54 (EC-130J, 193rd SOG PA-ANG Harrisburg) with Baton Ops on «395.1» to ask that Ops contact Giant Killer to let him know they won't be there tonight (probably means to area W-107 where he often works). Says he's 60 miles out (from Harrisburg.)
1932: BATON 54 says he's A-3 for a banging noise in the rear (which is probably why he's headed for home rather than to Giant Killer's area.). «395.1»
1932: ROMAN 51 (F/A-18 VFA-106 NAS Oceana) with ZDC-Woodstown «363.0» reporting at FL 250.
1936: ROMAN 51 repeats that he's cleared to descend via the ?COREY?-3 arrival. «363.0» (ROMAN 09 reported the same thing but I didn't even have a hint of what he said at that time. Sounds like COREY-3)
1938: ROCCO 62 (KC-135 108th ARW McGuire AFB) with Atlantic City Approach at 8000 feet and descending. «124.6»
1940: ROCCO 62 cleared down to 7000 feet direct Coyle and then McGuire. «124.6» (Over the next couple of minutes there was an open mic on 303.0 which is their squadron freq so it might have been him.)
1955: SAM 0714 with Andrews Approach on 119.3 and then at 1956 with ADW Tower 118.4 where he reports 10 miles out for the ILS to runway 19L for full stop landing.
1959: Refueling freq 228.0 active (Primary for AR-777) One aircraft slowing to 250 knots since he's about 4 minutes early for the IP...the other aircraft is accelerating to 340 to get there on time. Flight level 210 is being used for the AR.
