Not yet. Planned to do it this evening after dinner and after I slow down for the day. (Now done.)

1809: Someone is playing with that repeater on the 141.55 Command Post freq again at Andrews. Heard the series of beeps as the mic was keyed but no voice transmissions following them. I sure hope they get this thing worked out and on the air.

1938: Belgian Air Force flight - BAF 665, Falcon 900B, tail CD-01, 21 Squadron in the area flying to the northeast.

Two VH-3Ds just departed Leesburg Airport. They were calling themselves AIR FORCE-2 when I heard them earlier.

That one fits for the 2547 Mark but it was really a KC-135R, 62-3547 from the 133rd ARS NH-ANG that popped into Andrews.

Edit: And he departs Andrews at 1820.

Surprised me also that DECOY 22 as I had that as Westover plane also.
He departed Dover as REACH 9022 and went overnite towards Ramstein heard with Mildenhall metro this morning.
Probably will be back later this weekend.

Ref below.. Good catch on those changes Tin. Now I have to redo 5 scanners..LOL

69-0022 was a Westover C-5A at one time, but was transfered to WVA when all the model A's @ Westover were replaced by model B's. And now that WVA is TDY @ KCEF while their runways are being fixed, I'm not surprised that 69-0022 could be "back home."

Hope this doesn't confuse the issue.

Observation re the upcoming FV exercise (I know this sounds like heresy on a milcom thread, but I hope it gets rained out....) it might be interesting to see if CAP will use the new narrowband freqs that are listed (to CAP's chagrin, no doubt - I got some complaints about listing them in the Wiki) in the MT airshow article. There aren't too many of them, thankfully, so it should be easy to slap them in and see what gives.....73s Mike

[edit] I've assembled a Wiki page to document the frequencies and callsigns used in past FV exercises - we have one for the various Combat Air Patrols, so I thought it was high time we had one for the FV stuff too - it can be found here Please speak up if I missed a callsign or frequency. I decided to limit it to 2007 exercises, although it can go back further - but I don't think that would be very useful that far back.

Langley Raptors are very active this morning in the offshore areas with Giant Killer. Most are entering W-386 using 249.8. Among the flights heard have been TORCH 21, TRAP 41 (flight of six) and HARM 91. Langley interflight freqs active are 238.825, 252.775, 315.85 (TRAP) and 360.15.

At 1057 I heard TOPCAT 02, a KC-135E (tail 62-3527) from the 108th ARW McGuire tell Giant Killer on 135.225 that he'd be working in W-107 and would climb to FL 210 for AR work. (He departed McGuire about 1040.)
And, on the same freq at 1106, TEAM 10 (KC-10A, 83-0081, 305th AMW McGuire) reported to Giant Killer he was also at FL 210.
I haven't heard any indications of fighters working in W-107 so it's probably tanker-to-tanker AR work.
Early 1200 hour heard TEAM 10 working ACY Approach descending toward McGuire. A few minutes later, TOPCAT 02 was with Giant Killer on 338.1 (after trying to contact GK on 135.225) descending down to 12,000 feet and, apparently departing the offshore areas.

1245: REACH 432 (C-5A, 68-0219, 89th AS Wright Patterson) calls "Chambers" with arrival message...20 minutes out, A-1, has 18 pallets, 3 registered mail, 100 pounds of hazardous cargo and other items including 39 pax plus 1 going through. Wants parking in Spot 11 which he believes faces west because of his nose opening. Also needs Customs/Ag, three K-loaders, etc....349.5
1245: Royal Air Force...ASCOT 6743 (C-17A, tail ZZ172, 99 Squadron) overflying the area at FL 290...ZDC VHF
There are lots of transports around the area. I just noted a couple that grabbed my interest for the log since I'm busy with another project and can't log them all.
1256: REACH 5143 (C-17A, 05-5143, 729th As March) reports airborne from Andrews at 1656Z...378.1
1259: DC 90 (KC-135R, 62-3543, 756th ARS Andrews) to LIBERATOR (Squadron Ops) with arrival message...no pax...378.1 (This tanker went to Fort Worth's Alliance Airport a couple of days ago for the airshow.)

1400: REACH 6027 (KC-10A, 86-0027, 305th AMW McGuire), after calling several times since 1353) manages to round up McGuire CP for arrival message...20 minutes out, A-2, 50K on the fuel...319.4 (coming in from the west...heard in Kentuck about 45 minutes earlier)

Earlier this morning (I guess it must have been in the 0900 hour) I heard the 141.55 repeater apparently being tested again. They keyed the mic a few times but I only heard those leading beep tones about half the time which would seem to indicate the system is not yet ready for primetime.

Maryland: BRUCE, DAWSE, KEETH, LUKSE
DC: FOSTA

1534-45: CODY 02 (KC-135R, 62-3558, 336th ARS AFRC March ARB CA) [female] has been calling "Griffin Control" at Andrews and getting no response....378.1
They must be close...have started descent for Andrews and working with TRACON...but still no reply from CP on 378.1 to many, many calls.
1545: CODY 02 makes contact...says they are 15 minutes out and have been calling since 30 minutes out...parking in 11 Row...changing fuel needs from 40K to just 25K pounds...378.1
1547: CODY 02 [male] to Andrews Tower for landing approach to runway 19R....118.4 (She was slightly off on her 15 minute estimate before landing)
1551: FAST 51 (F-16, 138th FS, NY-ANG Syracuse) with ZDC-Blackstone at FL 230...235.625 (Heard him going into Langley around 1230)

1613: JOSA 279 (C-21A, 84-0092, 457th AS Andrews) to Griffin Cmd with arrival msg...18 minutes out, A-1, home station aircraft but transient at this time, tail 40092, need 5K fuel, has an M-4 and one Duty Pax on board...will depart at 1715 local, parking in 3 Row...378.1
1614: BOXER 43 (C-30C, 02-0201, 201st AS DC-ANG Andrews) with ADW Tower for full stop landing on runway 19...gear down...118.4
1629: REACH 9060 (C-17A, 99-0060, 62nd AW McChord) chatting with an unknown aircraft on an unidentified freq...305.5 (Am I just drawing a blank on this freq? Who is it? It's air-to-air. Well, no sooner said that when he began talking to a U/I ground station. During this chat, REACH 9060 was flying overhead this general area at FL 310. Last heard at 1636. Guess I'll have to add this one to my scan rotation for the future and figure it out if I hear it again.)

Ref Below: Thanks Dave. Nicely written article without giving anything away about the receiver. I guess the second KC-135 mentioned was the Ohio SLUFF bird. By the way, first half of 1600 hour, I've got some aircraft (02 and 03) with ZOB-Tyrone 299.2 that sound like they're doing some refueling. You have anything up that way?

Thanks for the heads up TIN and BM.

1125: STEEL and BATON still practicing their refueling. BATON 20 is 96-8154. There are actually two tankers, STEEL 11 and 12. BATON 20 just went over to work with STEEL 11. STEEL 11 has some reporters on board, they got some pictures with BATON 20 going to STEEL 12 and they'll probably get more pics as they come up to the boom. STEEL 11's boom interphone is not working, he can hear BATON 20 but cannot transmit. 295.80.

1131: They are taking both video and regular photos. I believe he said the reporters were from the Pittsburgh Tribune Review newspaper.
1147: SLUFF calls for BATON 20 on 295.80. They will be working as well. Sounds like everyone wants to play with BATON 20.
1232: Must be public relations day. It sounds like two SLUFFs (62 and 63) are working with BATON 20. They are carrying local employers of the guard members.

In case anyone is interested....From this post back on September 13th, here is a link to the Article.....http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/news/s_533887.html, the video, "Rick Brown On The Job," is pretty good.

305.5 is an alternate primary freq for AR20.

About 1630 today NIGHTHAWK-18 was out at Mt WX yet again and attempted an encrypted comms check on 375.0. No joy as usual.

Yes indeed, Giant Killer's offshore areas are hopping today with a steady stream of Langley fighters coming and going.

1158: PACER 98 (C-21A, 84-0075, 457th AS Andrews) to CP to say he's returning to Andrews in A-3 condition for an unsafe nose gear situation....he's been on a local checkout ride for the past couple of hours...378.1

First half 1100 hour, I've got two Netherlands Air Force aircraft - NAF 61 and NAF 63 (Fokker 60 MPA, tails U-01 and U-03, from the 334 Squadron) in the area. Not sure yet where they're going. At least for now, they don't appear to be landing in this area - just an overflight. I just learned they are travelling from Suriname (ex Dutch Guyana/Guiana) in South America back to the Netherlands and that it's a very unusual catch. At noon, the first one (NAF 61) is being heard over Cape Cod which confirms their direction of flight. NAF 61 is about 20 minutes ahead of the other one. He was first caught here at 1102.
I have their unit patch image saved:

I listened to a little bit of the Falcon Virgo exercise last night as I was going to sleep. I recorded what little of it there was and just finished reviewing it. The exercise was very short. The only freq I heard was 139.7. About all I heard was HUNTRESS telling BLACKJACK-3 to 'bug out south' a whole bunch of times. It seemed as though BLACKJACK-3 wasn't hearing HUNTRESS. Then BLACKJACK-3 mentioned RTB and cleared (0052).

At 0145 I could then faintly hear a female. I don't know if there was another CG helo or not. 3 came on again, intercepted N636CP and then RTB (appx 0205).

Interesting ads/articles on that latest chopper being bought by the US primarily Army
so far.
Must be showing one off for the DC Brass I assume.
Soon to be cranking them out at 3-5 per month according to company press releases.
Guess they could replace or augment CG Choppers from Atlantic City from DC security.
