2302 - Empire 71 to Willow Grove tower.....two fast movers flew right over the house, thought it was just one, then i saw them do a landing break, they were loud!!! sure as heck wasn't a regular c-9 or a-10 here! i flipped on the scanner just at the end, just caught the call sign. Checked one source, doesn't match up (U.S. customs and civil air patrol). Anyone?

Falcon Virgo 07-07 recordings. I'm lucky that I can catch almost all of it loud and clear.

Working with Potomac 135.525
DIAL working clearance with Potomac at the start 350.25

260.9
139.7

DIAL calling National Guard Ops 234.8
121.5
DIAL flight heading back to Langley 138.0
CAP flight 2598 returning to Davison AAF 126.3

Also noticed from my recordings that a CEF-05B landed at ADW over night. Had a Brit accent.

Very nice recordings Travis. Thanks very much for posting those. The funniest part was the DIAL pair thinking the DC-ANG Ops was going to answer them and send them text messages at that time of night. When I heard flight leader tell his #2 to switch to 234.8 and give them a call I started smiling and when he started calling "Capitol Guard Ops" there I was chuckling out loud knowing they wouldn't answer him.

That CEF-05B you mentioned was the Czech Air Force A319 with tail 2801 I mentioned in my log above that came in around 0300 to Andrews.

Nope, don't know who that was Brian and I didn't have my radios on anything but the Command Post freqs at that time. I don't show that callsign for anything other than what you show.

Not much else has happened this evening other than a ton of Air Force and Navy transports and Airevac units into/out of Andrews

Heh. The 1700-1800 hour was moderately slow - JOSA 609 departing, MARINE 474 arriving, SPAR 45 departing, SAM 1292 with a radio check, and EXECUTIVE 1 FOXTROT (C-32 seen) arriving. Due to low clouds, and rain out to the east, the 757 was the only one that I got a visual on.

The only interesting one was ANIMAL 01 departing to the west and calling ATC on 257.2. It was a fighter type, since I certainly heard it fly over DCA, but was well above the cloud base by the time it passed. The only reference that I see for the call is the WI ANG F-16 unit at Madison.

I heard the ANIMAL 1 flight also. With ZDC-Yorktown 319.1 at 1718 he was climbing from FL 190 to 270. Then, at 1726, he was handed off to ZDC-Moorefield 371.9 and checked in at FL 270 and that was the last I had in my notes for him because I switched my attention to Executive 1 Foxtrot trying to rustle up a reply from SAM Command on both 378.1 and 141.55 and then with Tower on 118.4 by 1733.

Checking tape this am as I zonked out early last night I
caught VAMPIRE 71 with WG tower right before 11pm flt of 2 with Tower 340.200 looking for
overhead runway 33.. Navy no doubt.
Probably FA/18's from VX-9 China Lake NAWS.
Milcom poster had VAMPIRE 71 also with Denver Center yesterday Eastbound direct Offutt.

Loud they were...I was already asleep when they came thundering over the house. First instinct was to run to the window and I caught a glimpse of the 2nd aircraft landing. I was going to guess F/A-18's and Mark confirmed that in his post. I hope they stick around for the weekend and fly some missions.

Mark......That's them...thanks!! Sure as heck sounded like Empire!! I've got to get better at this scanner stuff! My wife and I were just finishing watching ER, and thats when they came screaming overhead.

I have to go back, i quick grabbed my video cam and got them on turned approach (just looks like red blinking lights at night, but hey it's cool)...the scanner was going in the background.....I'll listen again. But anyways....Mystery solved!!! Thank you very much. And yes, hopefully they'll do something, maybe some Warren Grove work. If anyone hears anything about them, please post, hopefully i'll be able to get a few pics.

Yeah that would have woken me up as well.I'd give my right you know what to
get occasional FA/18's flying over my house doing carrier approaches.
Maybe not every night but sure would be nice once in a while! LOL

REACH 464A KC-10 #86-0030 with McGuire CP 0755 local arriving.
1610 local WARHOG 3 A-10's arriving home at WG from week at Florida Avon Park bombing range.
They stayed at MacDill AFB while down there.
good weather timing on their return after Exercise Atlantic Strike V while there.May be more on way home later.

Brian, someone on another board said it was REACH 6011. If so, that would make it a C-5B, tail 86-0011 from the 436th Airlift Wing at Dover.

Spent the day at Summit Point Raceway and saw some military aircraft pass directly over.
First in the morning I saw a flight of two UH-60s heading north at somewhere around 10k ft I guess. No luck picking up any of their comms. A little later I heard what sounded like OCEAN suffixed with 52 and then saw a C-130 heading south. Seems to have left from Martinsburg. Had him with TRACON 126.1 then 120.45. RI ANG I suppose.

In the afternoon a flight of three CH-47s, ARMY-70085 headed into Martinsburg..

Well....it definitley had TRAVIS on the tail. It's hard to see here, but this is all I was able to get before it took off. I did talk to a few others though and I asked them as well, and they said Travis.

So much for the REACH 6011 ID then. He was obviously wrong - unless the aircraft has transferred from Dover to Travis. The Dover ID was based solely on his callsign recovery so I think he must have mixed it up with something else. I can't read the tail number in that picture but it sure doesn't look like 0011.

Yakota C-130

Went to beach this nice weekend Saturday and passing Dover saw this old C-130
parked at end of ramp..Was still there coming home today.
C-130 #62-1834 and Scramble database has as from 36th AS Yakota Japan.
A long way from homebase.I wonder if retiring or transfering maybe or just passing thru.
YJ tail code I guess stands for Yakota Japan..DOH!

I'd make EVAC 80055 a C-17A (98-0055) from the 62nd Airlift Wing at McChord AFB WA.
Very busy day already today with perfect flying weather. It's so perfect though that I don't want to spend it inside listening to scanners. Time to drag one scanner and my trusty old mag antenna out to the picnic table.
