Some intermittent logs:
1805 EDT- Reach 392 on 141.55 w/Griffin
392 or 372? He's showing RCH372 on Mode-S (C-17A, 04-4129, 6th AS McGuire). You fixed it so...nevermind.

There's also a SAM flight (5236 displayed) ahead of him on approach (C-37A, 99-0404, 99th AS Andrews)
1812: REACH 809R (C-17A, 89-1190, 437th AW Charleston) passing overhead at FL 340 (per SBS)
1813: Confirm...it's SAM 5236 reporting to ADW Twr on 5 mile visual for runway 1L...cleared to land 1L...standby for gear...118.4
1814: "SAM 5236 is gear down"...118.4 (SAM 5236 departed Andrews just after midnight early in the 0000 hour on 9 July and scooted off to Europe. Last two logs on that side of the pond before he showed up here were in Switzerland and Hungary so it didn't do the UK flight route.)
1820: REACH 6004 (C-17A, 96-0004, 437th AW Charleston) noted on SBS descending into the area.
1821: REACH 372 to ADW Twr for landing...visual for runway 1L...118.4
1826: Navy T-6A (165985, TW-6) overhead at FL 240 (per SBS)
1829: REACH 370 (C-17A, 92-3292, 437th AW Charleston) departing Andrews and climbing out. (per SBS and later on TRACON 125.65)
1834: REACH 369 (C-17A, 00-0178, 62nd AW McChord) departing ADW w/TRACON reporting at 1600 feet and climbing...118.95
I'm not hearing the transmissions from these REACH flights to ADW Tower as they takeoff and switch to TRACON. Either conditions are lousy today or they simply aren't making that report anymore.
1838: REACH 370 handed off to ZDC-Montebello and checks in there...121.675
1838: Have a KC-10A (showing HOIST 90) descending into the area (79-1712, 305th AMW McGuire) per SBS. Caught the end of a transmission on 319.4 but after he had given his callsign so not yet confirmed.
1842: HOIST 91 (KC-10A, 85-0033, 305th AMW McGuire) to BRICKYARD with arrival msg...30 minutes out, A-2 with 3 minor writeups other than "during boom retraction loud noise heard"...later adds no pax, no cargo...319.4 (So the HOIST 90 is probably correct for 79-1712)
1843: LOBO 338 (UC-35D, 166715, VMR-1 Cherry Point) noted climbing in the area from 14-23K. Not hearing him on radio - just SBS.
1850: WORLD 9637 Heavy (DC-10, N138WA) w/TRACON and climbing...118.95
1850: REACH 359 (C-17A, 04-4131, 6th AS McGuire) noted on SBS at FL 250.
1850: Also seeing SPAR 78 (C-40B, 02-0042, 76th AS Ramstein) descending into the area on SBS. (There you go Andrew)
1851: REACH 1195 (C-17A, 01-0195, 437th AW Charleston) noted on SBS at FL 330
1851: REACH 841 (DC-10, N612AX, Omni Intl) noted on SBS at FL 310.
1858: NAVY JU967 (C-9B, 159119, VR-56) noted descending into the area on SBS. [See item at 1905 for correct callsign]
I don't know about anyone else but I can't listen to both Potomac TRACON arrival and departure VHF freqs at the same time - just too much traffic. Right now I've got the departure freqs on...figuring I'll catch the arrivals on ADW Tower freq eventually. And that's the beauty of the SBS receiver. It gets them all no matter how many aircraft are operating in the area.
1902: SPAR 78 to Adw Tower for landing runway 1L...standby for gear...118.4 (confirming callsign)
1904: "SPAR 78 gear down for full stop 1L"...118.4
1905: NAVY JU242 [female] on the visual for runway 1L...cleared to land...118.4 (This is the one showing JU967 so callsign is corrected from SBS)
END OF LOG FOR NOW
Ref below: Finally got the VC-10 here Mark at 1818. Appears he was coming in from north of you. I tracked him on SBS down to 4,000 feet so he must have gone into Dover rather than McGuire....however, Travis says it landed at Dulles so that takes care of that.
I'm just reminded again what a great area this is for monitoring milair. We get more in an hour than most people get in an entire day. I can only imagine if I had an antenna on a tower above the oaks surrounding me.
