Ron, the MAZDA flight leader is almost certainly one of our A-10 pilots from MTN. I recognize his voice. Nice catch.

Check 123.4 for the fighter interflight freq. Wow...these guys from MTN often just grab any freq they want but I've never heard them in this range. I was alerted to it by a fellow SBSer up the road 100 miles or so.

Tin,

I agree that they are MTN--heard them checking in on 138.1 after take off at 2800-3000 ft---much too low to be anyone else.

I too heard them ref 123.4 but wasn't sure I had heard correctly--thought maybe they were just counting offf. 391.0 is also a new one (for me at least)

Unfortunately, they're quickly getting out of range as they go through their first refueling cycle. At 17,000 feet I'm surprised I can hear them at all.
I'm fairly sure GOLD 71 is KC-10A, 85-0031, 305th AMW McGuire. He's displaying MOVER 20 on Mode-S but, since that's a Tuesday callsign, we know it's not valid. I heard the MAZDA 21 flight leader earlier repeat they were cleared to Nantucket so maybe the New England guys will grab them.
I wonder if there are airspares among them? If so, we should hear one or two returning to MTN after they all prove they can refuel.

Coronet deployment today

Hi everyone,

The A-10s deploying today are 354FS ones, that departed from Davis-Monthan AFB two days ago.
The are nightstopping and Lajes, and then departing to Sigonella on Monday, enroute to Afghanistan.

Hope this helps,

René.

Thanks René. I don't think anyone here heard (or at least didn't mention) that a "foreign" flight of A-10s came into Martin State. The MAZDA 21 flight leader is an MTN pilot. I'm about 99.9% sure since he has a very distinctive voice and I hear him often. Perhaps he's one of the pilots from other units that has been training here at MTN on the A-10C model. I'm sure your information is absolutely correct though and they're on the way.

Re: IAF 100

John,

SBS evidence indicates that your mama IDF 100 was 275/4X-JYV B703 IDF.

Tony

1130Z-1157Z

IAF 100 with 4 or 5 chicks headed from Bangor to Nellis 240B260.

Called Westover WX on 274.750 for actual at Nellis, McConnell and a third I couldn't understand.

Chicks were chatting steadily in Yiddish on a number of Coronet freqs, until settling on 236.750.

Other freqs heard were:

254.600
255.750
394.600
375.700

and possibly
139.700

There were three IDF B-707 types noted yesterday...264, 275 and one unidentified other than type. They were flying a northern route through Montreal and then were logged in Michigan. I suggested they were support personnel for the earlier fighter flight going to Nellis. However, there's also an exercise at McChord that IDF is supposedly participating in. {My English professor would give me a failing grade for that last sentence.}
***********************************************

Also noted earlier...GOLD 61 (KC-10A, 79-0434, 305th AMW McGuire) departing McGuire in 0700 hour (1100Z) and then loitering off the MA coast an hour later.
GOLD 62 (KC-135R, 59-1506, 174th ARS IA-ANG) off Cape Cod also.

GOLD 71 (ID above as MOVER 20 SBS) logged in Nantucket area at 1039 local.

Either or ...... probably Hebrew, but sounded a bit slangy like the way my inlaws speak.
Bottom line, it weren't English, any Romantic or Slavic language.
Fair enough. Fighter pilots (who are the tip-top elite) are still almost universally drawn from Israelis of European descent as opposed to those from the Middle East. It's not inconceivable that some of them grew up with Yiddish-speaking grandparents at home and wanted to have a little fun on a zillion-hour ferry flight.

The other group that speaks Yiddish are the ultra-Orthodox, but they do a year of national service if they serve at all, and certainly aren't going into the Air Force!

I missed that comment earlier Ron. 391.0 is Coronet 21 (B-1). The secondary is 388.4 Coronet 21 (B-2)

1145: A couple of Andrews KC-135R tankers into the area aiming for Andrews...DECEE 61 (62-3556) and DECEE 62 (57-1487)...both reported with less than 20K of fuel...61 is A-2 and 62 is A-1...w/LIBERATOR...351.2
1155: REACH 429 (C-130J, 97-1354, 135th AS MD-ANG MTN) w/CRAB Ops reporting 5 minutes out, 10K fuel, A-1...ground gives him parking spot D-3...384.1 (This is the one I reported earlier that went to Europe 6 July with this callsign)
Displaying REACH429 in Mode-S. Took the time to spell it out.

1201: REACH 429 to CRAB Ops to tell him that REACH 616 (C-130J, 98-1358, 135th AS) should be landing at 1230 local...384.1
1204: DECEE 61 to ADW Twr reporting a flight of two 135s..on initial for runway 19R...118.4
1205: REACH 429 transmitting on wrong freq...repeats to CLIPR, then Martin, down to 11,000....then stops when realizing he's on the wrong freq...384.1
1207: DECEE 61 to Twr reports gear down, left base for full stop runway 19R...118.4
1209: DECEE 62 reporting for runway 19R...118.4
1212: REACH 616 (98-1358) to CRAB Ops reports 20 minutes out, A-1, 22K fuel, request parking spot...download is a pallet and 41 pax...384.1
1216: REACH 429 to MTN Twr for landing runway 15...looking for traffic...cleared to land runway 15...121.3
1218: REACH 429 on 2 mile final for runway 15...121.3
I seldom hear MTN Tower on 121.3 but CRAB Ops on 384.1 is received fair to good most days. 347.2 also works well for hearing ground. It's the VHF freqs at MTN that are more difficult for some reason. Lost REACH 429 on Mode-S when he got down to 475 feet.
1225: U/I fighter activity w/Philadelphia TRACON...reporting at 7,000 feet...then cleared to 10,000 (not strong enough to get callsign yet)...291.7
1226: CAP Flight 1801 to MTN Twr for landing runway 15...121.3 (No Mode-S so no ID)
1227: REACH 616 to MTN Twr for landing runway 15...gear down...reports at 4 miles from ALLDE...will be on the descent for the localizer for runway 15...121.3

Lusty

1232 EDT- sounds like the Lustys (3 of them), callsign Lusty 11 flt, are going back home---had them w/ZDC Kenton (354.15) at FL220 cleared to Norfolk. Also w/ZDC Coyle at FL280.

Nothing up at Patterson, with the exception of a slowmover transitioning through the airspace: N3786B. They got scared off by some lightning and went back home. The ER-2 mission scheduled for today seems to have been scrubbed by the weather as well.

1258 EDT- East Coast TACAMO, voice call Expletive, just departed PAX River (311.0)

It was 164404, VQ-4. Track began at 1254 here.

I just added more to the SBS log above. That'll be all I can add to that message because of the new time limits for editing.

Tin,
Mark,

in the late 1400 hour had French speaking pilot transiting our area on 133.125 & 120.975. Gave callsign as W11ZK (might be partial call). Did you guys get him on your box? Just curious as to who he was

Ron, it might have been LX-ZAK, an F-900 from Luxembourg. Had him come through at FL 450. He's a Globaljet aircraft so his flight number would be SVW and some numbers.
Yeah...just found him on Flightaware...his flight is SVW11ZK on his way from Le Bourget (LFPB) in Paris to Lynden Pindling Intl (MYNN) in Nassau.

Tin,

Thanks for the feedback---you've satisified my curiousity. Last I heard from him he was cleared by ZDC to Dixon.

Yes, but I know who's on board. And he has three (count 'em) gorgeous blondes with him who will all be in bikinis on the beach outside the private getaway in Nassau in a couple of hours. I tell you...this Mode-S is great. Sigh...when am I going to hit the lottery?
