Can you guys provide me tips for better results? I am batting 0 percentage points :-( While I am very successful at commercial air band reception, I am unable to catch ANY traffic on Mil VHF or HF at all. I must be doing it all wrong.

Should I simply scan known channels?
Should I scan the entire freq range and sweep?
Should I target certain times?

I have left the HomePatrol monitoring the military bands for 48 hours straight without a single hit ...

Thanks.

Manny....I would start with the frequencies you see here listed in this thread since you're in this area. Also, I'm not familar with the Home Patrol model, but make sure these mil freqs are set to AM mode. (Not FM). Since you are receiving commercial a/c, I would think your antenna system is ok.

Manny,

If you'll send me an e-mail at mdmonitor1@verizon.net I'll send you my milair freq list for the Mid-Atlantic area much of which you should be able to hear from your location.

Any one have an ID on FEAR?
1638 local had FEAR 11 (flt x2) passing through ZNY. First on 282.3 then 350.3 at FL 270
At least it sounded like FEAR. Very loud audio.

I had caught them also through my area. He was on 255.400 FSS station getting WX for Minot and said he was 30 miles south of Buffalo when calling. Also had a/a on 300.125 I only caught them on one ZOB center freq. Not sure where else they went through.

Falcon Virgo is getting started.

Civil Air Patrol Cessnas are airborne and using 150.5625 PL 151.4 and eventually 122.75

SNIPER1 flight heard on 228.9 and ZDC 281.4
2349- SNIPERs on 139.7 for interflight. First engagements will be as single ship, the 3rd together.
Pushing to 350.25 for Guard Dog area.

Guard Dog switching them to 348.725, said it didn't seem to be working that well. I heard them all just fine on it. Now the fighters are 348...but I have to stay on 350.25/135.525 to still hear Guard Dog. Have to hear him deal with commercial traffic too.

2356- BLACKJACK1 just checking in with GD, cleared into Class B.

122.75 is their simulated VHF guard.

On 150.5625 they're testing the laser warning system
