I think the tower called it 'Nasa 430'

I wonder if this acft replaces the BE-200 they used to have at Wallops. It used callsign NASA 8 and was used to shuttle personnel and small cargo between Wallops and NASA Hqs in Wash and NASA at Langley.

I haven't heard NASA 8 in quite awhile and I used to hear him at least a couple of times a week.

N8NA is still registered.
FAA Registry - Aircraft - N-Number Inquiry

Pax areas busy today.
Tanker for a chase plane on 249.65

1124- SCORE53 on 270.8 mentioned climbing to FL150 for tanker track. Mentioned SD122 and waiting to join up with an F-18.

1226- GOOSE75 returning to Pax. 354.8 It's a prop of some kind.

Looks like the old DASH series, maybe a DASH8, flew by Allegheny Airlines years ago. Not sure who is flying these now.

Nasa 430 is definitely a Shorts C-23 Sherpa.

The Army used to use C-23s to fly old chemical weapons from Edgewood Arsenal to Anniston Army Depot for incineration.

Piedmont/Allegheny previously they flew the Shorts 330, a larger version of the pictured plane. They still fly the Dash-8s.
pictured; a Shorts 330 in Henson livery; below that, a Piedmont Dash-8 (my personal pic)

Any one have an ID on FEAR?
1638 local had FEAR 11 (flt x2) passing through ZNY. First on 282.3 then 350.3 at FL 270
At least it sounded like FEAR. Very loud audio.

Can you guys provide me tips for better results? I am batting 0 percentage points :-( While I am very successful at commercial air band reception, I am unable to catch ANY traffic on Mil VHF or HF at all. I must be doing it all wrong.

Should I simply scan known channels?
Should I scan the entire freq range and sweep?
Should I target certain times?

I have left the HomePatrol monitoring the military bands for 48 hours straight without a single hit ...

Thanks.
