Now I'm really confused ?

I just "looked" at my scanner and realized I have no control channel(s) for Summit regional
and the three everyone said I should have for Summit P25.
Every now and then I hear something from Twinsburg, but not much else.
I am just 1.6 miles from the Chamberlain Tower.
Are there still 2 systems ? If so, what does "regional" have on it ?
I have only 5 talk groups programed, Hudson Police,Northfield Village Fire, Twinsburg Fire, Twinsburg Police
and Valley fire.

Thanks

Don

Again, I'm new to the Sentinel and the Uniden scanner. How do I remove a certain frequency? Just updated the database and still nothing as of today.

I don't think you can do it if you are scanning using the full database. If you are using a Favorites List, you can edit the list using the "Program Favorites List" function.

For those with a Sentinel programmed scanner it's a matter of using notepad and deleting the 857.6625 frequency. You have to use a USB cord and open the correct state file for Ohio, then find Summit County, and then do a find option on notepad for the frequency above, without the "." You would need to do this in both your favorites list and the database, or else that frequency will be in the set.

Now for another question: Where can I find the correct Summit County Sheriff's codes? I understand most of them are a combination of the Akron/Buckeye codes & signals. But not all match up.

I spent some time in Summit County this week and though I was picking up some traffic on the P25 system it seemed to be less then I remember. Has it been determined that 857.6625 needs to be removed from the database. If yes is that something that should be submitted to the admin?

Tony,

I'm really on the fence on that one. 857.6625 is getting voice traffic the last time I checked. From a purist standpoint, it is part of the system and should be in the DB.

Keeping it unmarked as a control channel helps those that respect them and only load the control channels. The challenge comes in when there are radios that put all site frequencies (like the Uniden HPs) and not just the control channels.

857.6625 is the active control channel for the MARCS-IP Site 2-002 Summit Co Simulcast.

Not sure how one could say that it is also serving voice on the old Summit system. I'm monitoring from a location whereby two stories above the antenna is (a) one of the sites in the current Summit P25 system and (b) one of the sites in the current MARCS-IP 2-002 Summit Co simulcast. There are no voice transmissions on 857.6625.

Mike

Just a follow up from my last post where I thought the P25 was not coming in liked it used to. I was in Summit Co. all day today and had no issues with P25 system at all.

Heard testing of talkgroups (presumably new Summit Co talkgroups) on Site 2-002 (Summit Co Simulcast). Simple 1-2-3 tests with no information that would identify the talkgroup.

Talkgroup IDs seen:

62643
62645
62650
62651
62652
62653
62654
62657
62661
62662
62664
62665
62778
62927

Radio IDs seen: (which is all testing, so these may just be radio repair IDs and not IDs one would typically see on the above talkgroups):

7728539
7728825
7728943
7729128
7732958
7732208
7732210
7760032

If you are somebody who monitors the Summit Co System, be aware that the new simulcast (which they will be moving to) on the Ohio MARCS-IP system, is up and running (at least partially). There is no traffic on it right now except for some testing of 62xxx talkgroups.

But I'm betting they are going to be switching over much sooner than later. And if you don't have Site 2-002 of Ohio MARCS-IP programmed in with an ID Search / Group Wildcard, you'll have little to listen to once they do migrate over.

The new system that Summit is moving to is:

https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=6643
- specifically this site: https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?siteId=33432

So it would behoove you to program it in and be ready. Do keep in mind that as the transition from their current system to the new system occurs (whenever that may be -- probably soon), the frequencies on the site list above are bound to change. So be prepared for that as well.

I heard testing on Site 2-002 of at least 14 different 62xxx talkgroups today.

Mike, did you add the "77" to the RID? Historically Summit's Radio's do not display the County number on their RIDs. 28539 is Cuyahoga Falls Fire on TG 2443
